Fake lashes ?

Kristen, on October 22, 2019 at 11:02 PM

I have pretty short eyelashes so I have been considering doing fake lashes for the wedding. I have sensitive skin so I’m a little nervous. Are fake lashes worth it ? Is there a type that is best for people with sensitive skin and will not feet heavy on my eyes ?

That is a beautiful picture- thank you for sharing. I am going to have to try them out. I like that they are thinner and lighter. I would love something that isn’t going to be heavy on my eyes

Thank you for sharing about your experience- I think I am going to go with the fake lashes that you use once. That is a good idea looking for glue for sensitive skin (:

I'm TERRIFIED of fake lashes. They scare the willies out of me and have pretty long lashes anyways so I'll just be opting for an fabulous mascara

Unfortunately, I am not sure what brand my makeup artist used.

Go try them out before your big day. 2 weeks before my wedding I went a try out make up artists. They put some fake lashes on me to see how I tolerated them. It was baddd lol but I helpe me kept the fakes one long enough on my wedding date

Just another tip on fake lashes, if you tear up you won’t have to worry about your mascara running since you wouldn’t need to wear mascara with the lashes! I didn’t think of that until I was tearing up on my wedding day, I had a little eyeliner run but no big hobby mascara run. 😁

If you’re going to DIY, the magnetic lashes might be best because you can practice putting them on without needing to use glue. One of the brands (Ardell I think?) does sell an ‘applicator wand’ for magnetic lashes now at Target and other drugstores like CVS, Walmart.

If you are referring to the ones you only glue temporarily (the day) you can test the glue and see if you have a reaction. They come in many different styles so you can get some that have a more natural look. Now if you are referring to lash extensions you would have to check with a good lash tech and have them to a test for the glue as well as a trial run because you want to make sure you are confortable since you won’t be able to remove them easy

I’ve gotten my makeup professionally done with lashes many times and I’ve always been happy with the lashes the MUA had. I’ve actually never asked which brand because I’ve never been so blown away by one but dissatisfied with another. How well they stay on and look is going to depend more on how well they are applied more than the brand. Are you having a MUA day of? I’d call her to make sure she has different types for you to choose from. (Different thicknesses and styles, not brands, I’m sure her brand of choice will be great)

Yes! I got mine from Target but amazon also sells them! They're "Allure Double Wispies magnetic" and they range from 8-13 depending on where you get them but well worth the money! I actually learned how to do them form an Instagramer @livingmybeststyle She has a whole highlight talking about exactly how to cut them to fit and look god and how to put them on! Like I said, it take me about a week to practice putting them on but now that I know, they are so worth it!!!

Honestly i have sensitive skin too and i'm aiming for lash extensions to be safe , a bit pricey but totally worth it, they look awesome and more natural than fake lashes and if there is humidity or a bit of crying they are a lifesaver Smiley smile

YES to the lashes! Having professional pictures done will have you looking like you dont have any lashes at all. You will get used to the weight after a couple of minutes. A good makeup artist or lash tech should have no trouble adjusting to your sensitivity.

    Hi,

If you have sensitive skin and are concerned about having an allergic reaction. I would proceed with caution. Please advise your makeup artist prior to starting your trial, if you can let them know when you’re making the appointment.

More than likely your makeup artist will suggest playing it safe. The safe route is just simply applying many layers of mascara. Your makeup artist may do this one of two ways

    1) apply a light coat of loose powder on your lashes followed several coats of mascara

    Or

    2) apply a lash primer followed by several coats of mascara

If you decide you want to take the risk try asking your makeup artist to apply a thin layer of glue to your inner arm. Use this as a testing site, to see if a reaction occurs. Your makeup artist can use latex free glue if you know you are allergic to latex.

If you are really feeling courageous invest in an eyelash strengthening serum or look online at a DIY version.

If you and your makeup artist are feeling trendy, try the new magnet lashes. Currently on the market there are two versions of them.

Do you have a HMAU to do your makeup? If so the fake strip lashes should be fine. If you're going to do your own makeup I would advise A LOT of practice. Fake lashes can be difficult to put on and if they're even a little off they can look funny. So I would say if you don't have time/energy to practice putting them on, just get lash extensions!

Lashes make such a huge difference! There are all different styles and if you are using a makeup artist they should know what will work for the look you want and measure them to fit before gluing them on. That's what keeps them looking natural. Everybody's eyes are different sizes and shapes so they shouldn't be just glued on right out the package if you're using strip ones. Also Duo lash glue the one that has a green label is for sensitive eyes it's latex and formaldehyde free. I used to work as a makeup artist. Hope that helps!

How much time do you have before your wedding? If you have a lot of time you may want to consider a lash serum instead of falsies or extensions. Serums claim to help your natural lashes grow longer, thicker, darker, and stronger (note the claims vary from serum to serum, the one I am trying doesn't make claims about lashes getting darker, but doesn't have the same side effects that some serums do). Some prescription or chemical serums (like Latisse) can cause some people's eye color to darken if used for prolonged periods or cause skin discoloration if accidentally applied to the eyelid instead of just the lash line, so just be sure to read all the warnings and reviews before trying one out. I've got light eyes and somewhat sensitive skin and have been trying out a natural lash serum (WildMint Lush Lash) for the past month. Still not sure if it is working, as my eyelashes have blond tips so its difficult to notice much difference without curling and mascara and I haven't compared my before/after photos yet. Personally, I keep my look pretty natural on a regular basis so I don't want fake lashes, so would prefer to use a lash serum and good mascara for my wedding.
