Fake garland with real flowers for centerpieces?

I was wanting to do my center pieces similar to this photo. I'm renting white table cloths and bought cheesecloth off amazon to dye navy blue. I found an affordable green garland that looks pretty decent off amazon as well. My florist gave me the idea of intertwining real flowers (babies breath, white carnations, and burgundy carnations) into the fake garland. Has anyone done this? Would it look weird to have a fake garland with real flowers intertwined?

I'm surprised your florist will let you use anything fake, most won't - I know mine won't. I can't see the full picture for some reason but if it doesn't look to plastic-y I don't think it would look bad.

I think that could look really nice!!
When will you get your faux garland? I'd play around with some fresh flowers right when the garland gets in so you can see how it looks together!
