Fake Flowers - yes or no

Melissa, on November 1, 2018 at 11:09 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9
So I am not a huge flower person and we don’t need a ton other than the bouquets and boutonnières. I do love sunflowers though and was thinking of lining the aisle with some in mason jars and maybe some type of garland for the gazebo. That being said, I’m all about DIY but know nothing about real flowers and don’t know that I would have enough time that close to the wedding to dedicate to that.

So the real question here - has anyone used artificial flowers in the decor and have had them look real and not blatantly fake in pictures? If so, what companies have you used?

You’re definitely in luck. A lot of ladies on here have posted gorgeous artificial or silk flowers.

Afloral.com has really great real looking flowers. However, after buying really great quality fake flowers we discovered it was actually cheaper to go ahead and do real flowers. I plan to do this and put together all of the arrangements on Thursday before my Saturday wedding. Flower Moxie has great tips and tricks and advice. They can recommend which flowers and greenery are hardier than others that will be the easiest to work with, etc.

Hi Melissa! Sunflowers are my favorite, I love your idea of lining the aisle with them! A lot of users in the community have used or are using fake flowers in their weddings! I would check out Amazon, Etsy, Michael's and Hobby Lobby for flowers! Read the reviews to see what the quality is like! I know I have fake sunflowers in my living room from Michael's and they look great!

We were looking at doing the same and since our parties are small we were thinking of going to the through Etsy for preassembled bouquets and boutonnieres

Depends on the time of year you're getting married, but if you don't want to go the florist route, you can usually find sunflowers for pretty cheap at Trader Joes (assuming there's one near you). It's super easy to arrange a few with some greenery in mason jars (or any small jar). You'd probably only need 2-3 per jar depending on how big they are. I'm personally a fan of real flowers though and I have mini sunflowers growing in my yard, so I'm probably biased.

My flowers are real and also the center pieces our girls little bouquets are fake from hobby lobby! They are just going to be thrown somewhere and be forgotten about! No point in spending the money on them. Our flowers are totaling $600.

Thank you everyone for the tips! Our bouquets will be real flowers but no floral centerpieces, so that’s a plus. Just decor for the ceremony so may have to get some fake and try them out and do some test photos.
