Fake Flowers vs Real Flowers

Amber, on August 24, 2020 at 1:36 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 22
I’m having a hard time deciding on whether I should purchase real flowers or rent fake but good quality flowers from the “something borrowed blooms” website. I’ve already increased my flower budget twice because I keep getting told that I’m going to have a hard time getting what I want at my current budget for the real ones. This has been told to me by multiple florists in my area. The fake flowers I’m looking at are beautiful and exactly what I want at the fraction of the cost. Should I continue to shop around for real flowers or go with the fake?

I'm not familiar with that website, though are they willing to send you a sample of their flowers? That way, you could see the quality firsthand and decide if you want to use them or not. If they aren't willing to send you a flower sample, maybe pay to rent a small flower arrangement from them ahead of time with some of the flowers you'd like to use, and use that as a trial run before deciding what you'd like to do.

I would go with the fake flowers. You can resell them after the wedding or keep them forever.

They will let you sample two items from their website from my understanding. I think one centerpiece and one bridesmaid bouquet. I think I’m going to do that just to be a little more sure about my decision. I’ve felt pretty defeated lately being told that the real flowers are going to be ridiculously expensive.

This is a rental company that allows you to use them the day of then send them back the day after so you’re not left with a bunch of centerpieces and such. If I were to make my own, this would be a great idea though! Thank you!

I hear you on the ridiculous flower costs - I was shocked at the pricing when we started looking into our flowers, so we ultimately decided to do non-floral centerpieces to save money. That's great that they'll let you sample two items! If you're happy with the samples and the way they look, and if they're good quality, I say go for it!

Oh yeah that's right, I used sola wood flowers and made all my wedding party flowers and such. Then I ordered fresh flowers for the tables from fifty flowers. In total I spent $300 on florals.

If you want real flowers, be specific upfront about what you need and make sure everything is in season. If they aren't willing to work with you, keep looking. Budget florists do exist. Or DIY through fiftyflowers.com
Artificial vs real is personal preference. Some silks are more expensive than fresh flowers and some fresh are more expensive (usually out of season exotics). Many times a florist marks up prices for a wedding because they know some women won't question it.

Only $300!? That’s awesome! How many tables did you decorate? Right now I’m having to get centerpieces for 21-25 tables.

$200 was spent on the wood flowers. I made 8 bouquets, 12 boutonnieres, 4 corsages, Cards and gift sign stand and had flowers left over. I spent $95 (100 stems) of baby's breath for my table centerpieces for 10 tables. I am going to do mason jars with a bunch of baby's breath for our centerpieces.

Here is one of the bouquets and our cards and gifts sign stand.

We ordered SBB (Taylor collection) for our upcoming micro wedding! We ordered the bouquets, bouts, corsages, & garlands. Definitely a fraction of the cost as compared to reals I've priced. The thing that sold me was that they look great in photographs. I follow them on IG but there's also a "private" SBB FB group you can join - where brides discuss all things SBB. Good luck!

Are the flowers as pretty in person as they are in the photos on the website?

Yes. We did a preview pack of the Olivia & Taylor, which includes just the bridesmaids size. But I'm super confident the bridal bouquet will look great. Flowers aren't a super huge priority for me, I just don't care about the real bouquet experience. I just want them to look amazing in pics. Looking at the real wedding pics that SBB posts every week + the savings of at least 50%, sold me.

We did all fake flowers from Hobby Lobby when they were 50% off, and now we have them as decor in our house. The picture is a little blurry just because my face was in focus, but this is the best close-up I have.

I say go fake . We were going to go fake because some of our guest are allergic and we wouldn't have to worry to much about them dying. Plus if they are exa6what your look in for a lesser price I say don't miss out.

I went with Lings moments. I was really nervous to go with fake flowers. But their flowers are very beautiful in my opinion and don't look plasticy like other fake flowers. Fake Flowers vs Real Flowers 5
