Fake E ring for traveling ?

A.L.S., on March 8, 2017 at 10:34 PM

This weekend We're taking a mini vaca to an indoor water park . I really don't want to wear my E ring , does anyone have a fake one they wear for travel ? I was considering just getting a thin stackable band to wear . I don't like the silicone rings .

Why not just insure your ring?

You do realize that countless numbers of our grandmothers put platinum and diamond wedding ring sets on their fingers when they were 20, and they died with them still on their fingers, intact, decades later, right?

A ring should made to fit your finger. A diamond is not fragile. If you have a pearl, an opal, or a softer stone, then I get leaving it at home and going with a replica. But if it's a well fitting band with a diamond? Well, I've got all three of my engagement rings, and I never removed one until he decided to upgrade it...and they've all survived both oceans.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. But FH keeps reminding me that my ring is insured no matter where in the world we are. I kinda want one for work though. Mine is always getting caught on gloves. If it make you more comfortable I say do it

Part of me says don't bother wearing it if you're nervous and the other says get a CZ stand-in. May I ask why you won't take it on the trip and hide it while you're not wearing it? I understand the risk, but it's not really that different than doing stuff locally, either. As my family says, "Wear it in good health!"

Last time we went on a trip it got lost and thank god I found it . It's insured , but my ring is very sentimental to me and when it was lost for 9 hours I was so upset . I said I would never bring it on another trip.

I have a silicone band that I wear with my e ring all the time. I took a trip to my dad's, who lives on a farm, and I did bring all my rings I left my e ring and two other rings I always wear in a dish next to my bed.

If you don't like a silicone band I do suggest getting something as a stand in if you're nervous.

I bought this one at old navy for around $6! It's simple, but I've gotten so used to wearing a ring it feels weird when I don't. It's saved me lots of stress when traveling!

I am getting FH and I Qalo rings for our honeymoon. We will lock or wedding bands (and my E-ring) in the room safe when we are not wearing them!

I purchased a sterling silver replica of my ring. I don't want my ring lost for sentimental reasons.

The thing about "fake rings" is that they tend to be made from metals that turn your fingers green when they come into contact with water or sweat (if it's copper, which most of my costume rings are).

I bought a 6$ band from Wal-Mart and use it for backpacking and when I went to the Dominican. I am not a jewelry person and never thought I'd care about not wearing my ring when I went backpacking, but I am just used to wearing one and it was cheap so why not.

I bought an opal ring on amazon when I was going on a work trip to Malaysia and didn't want to bring my ring, but wanted to wear one.

They have a ton of rings on there of various styles. I'm also going to get a silicone one though for more outdoorsy activities/the gym.

I wouldn't even bother honestly. Just leave it home. And no need to snap at people who "don't get it". I don't honestly get it either....

I'm buying a "fake" ring off of amazon for cheap but still really pretty and looks like an engagement ring! Don't want to lose my real ring but also want to wear one!

My FH proposed with a "fake" e-ring! We were on vacation in Thailand and he didn't want to risk losing my real e-ring or having it stolen. I would recommend getting an inexpensive ring in silver, so it doesn't turn green or anything.

I never take mine off. I don't really understand why people do this to travel. I understand the qualo rings for certain work environments but not vacation. My ring fits and I have it insured.

If you also have the store The Icing or Claire's in your area they also sell fake wedding rings or online.
