Fake cake vs real cake

Molly, on October 9, 2019 at 12:39 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14
So I just heard of fake cakes and you use sheet cake to serve people. Trying to cut corners anyway possible lol Are they worth it?
Just buy a real one? Help!

I would just do a small real cake for cutting, then serve a sheet cake to guests in the same flavor!

That seems like it would barely save money and also be tacky and complicated to arrange lol. Just buy a cake, or do cupcakes or something

The most expensive part of a wedding cake is the decorating, so foam cakes with elaborate decorations aren’t really saving much money. Just have a small cake for cutting and a sheet cake or cupcakes for guests. Guests don’t care if their cake is cut from an 6 tier cake you saw on Food Network or a plain sheet cake in the kitchen, cake is cake.

We did a super small cake for cutting, then mini desserts like cookies, brownies, cupcakes & mini pies for the rest!

There's this bakery I've loved since I was a kid. I never tried their wedding cakes but I'm going to make an appointment soon. They're doing a small two tier cake that serves about 90 for $90 and the rest a sheet cake if I'd like or even cupcakes.

I still plan to shop around though but it's definitely something I considered. Something presentable and pretty but a sheet cake to serve like another $90 if I recall correctly.

I was in love with my sister's wedding cake but I can't afford a $700 cake.

Beautiful! Did you just contact a bakery and have it all done there? Love it.

I might just do that for my dessert buffet table as "favor" with donuts.

You better book them! That price is a STEAL for cake. $1 per serving?! How in the world do they manage that?

This is what we're doing. Less expensive and more interesting than traditional cake.
