Facing the reality (new normal)

Lindsay, on April 15, 2020 at 2:18 PM Posted in Planning 1 23
Is anyone else starting to face the harsh reality that we don’t know when social distancing will end and feeling as if there is no safe time to even reschedule Smiley sad

Even though my wedding has passed, we delayed our Europe honeymoon to May 2020... obviously cancelled but the idea of a fall Covid resurgence now concerns me. ☹️ I’m wondering if we should just think about 2021.

I feel the same way. According to the lead scientist on a vaccine Kizzmekia Corbett, she says within 8 months or so if all goes well. They are trying for this fall for healthcare workers. She stated that if the virus gets bad in the fall, there are paramaters that it can be release for emergency use....fingers cross.

It’s definitely hard to make decisions about the unknown and what the next few months hold. I really hope they will allow family gatherings soon for weddings, funerals, etc in the next several months even if they have to put a limit on how many people can attend. If they’re talking about bringing sports back (even without fans, you’re easily talking about 70+ people in a baseball stadium or 200+ in a football stadium) then there’s gotta be some silver lining for us brides too!

I hope they can start allowing weddings and funerals to begin again. I feel like those shouldn't be touched by restrictions come the summer. Like the PP said. The new normal will be different. But maybe for the best. One thing I would like to point out is that death rates are high, but are they all really from COVID. My coworkers FIL passed away on Monday the folks that come in after someone dies tried to pin the death on COVID; he had no symptoms and had not left his home in weeks. He had a heart attack. I am beginning to question the death count; simply because places want money and funding.

In my mind, the best thing to do is restrict international travel for the next 6-8 months. It would suck not being able to go on a honeymoon right away, but I’d rather postpone that than the wedding!

Agreed but how are we going to protect our guests going forward during a wedding or funeral. Are the venues going to make people wear a face mask, take temperatures or serve the buffet? Are people going to feel comfortable, the guest list might be affected. So many questions.

Yes because even when social distancing ends it doesn’t mean everything just goes back to normal, it would be a process, especially for large scale events like weddings.

Yes and It’s driving me crazy! We had to cancel our May 2nd destination wedding and replanning it there wasn’t an option.. I have no venue, no vendors, I’m completely back at square one with wedding planning and everyone keeps telling me to just pick a new date. How?! No one knows when it will be “safe” to reschedule. At this point, I think we’re going to postpone until spring of 2021, which really sucks but I don’t know what else to do.

Someone told she watched an interview of someone who works in morgue. They were saying that because someone has symptoms, they don't test them, they just say it was covid. Thats crazy. Makes you think huh?

Yes!! I have no idea when it will be safe to re-schedule, and even then if people would even want to come. I saw an article yesterday from a fairly credible source that said social distancing might need to last until 2022. I don't think anyone really knows, and that's tough. Best of luck and love to all of you.

Yes very much so. I know this virus is bad, but I'm starting to question everything we are hearing about it. I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything but it is starting to make me question a few things about what is really going on.
