Facials/makeup in the time of Covid

Carly, on August 6, 2020 at 9:32 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
Hi all!

We had to push our wedding to May 2021, but are proceeding with a “minimony” on our original date, September 12th, 2020. We’re just having immediate family and our bridesmaids/groomsmen, but I’m still wearing a wedding dress (albeit less formal) and Id still love to get my makeup done professionally and maybe a facial the day before as I don’t trust myself to do my own without having a melt down (can anybody really contour??) I’m wondering if/how other people getting married right now are doing things. Are you getting your makeup done? If so what sort of safety precautions are you taking? Should I just start watching a bunch of YouTube tutorials?? I’d appreciate any feedback or advice. Thanks!!

I am getting hair and make up done and the trial. I would just make sure you have tested negative and some make up artists will wear a mask if you express it as a concern. I would say choose a make up artist that is a part of a team so if the person you hired gets sick someone else can step in. I think that is important with or without COVID to have back up just in case.

It's entirely up to you. I was browsing Thumbtack the other day and saw that some makeup artists are Covid-certified so they can work under the restrictions safely. That would be something to ask when you interview them if you don't want to go the DIY route.

I would tell the artist you considering about your concerns. Ask her to wear a mask when she’s doing your hair and makeup.

In some states, services like that are not currently allowed. Masks are also mandatory in a lot of places, so there really shouldn’t be an issue with the artist wearing one.
If full face makeup isn’t allowed, you could see about having someone do your eye makeup while you do the all over stuff yourself.

Oh, you might not want to get a facial right before the wedding (within the last two weeks) unless it’s somewhere you’ve been going to already. You don’t know what could cause a skin reaction.

I'm getting my hair and makeup done tomorrow. In my state, there are a lot of specific covid rules they have to follow, so I'm not all that concerned. We have a mask rule here, so I'm guessing I'll just take it off for the makeup part. Other than getting my nails done today, I haven't gone anywhere that I didn't absolutely have to go for the last two weeks unless it was outside with only my fiancé. Since I've reduced my risk that way, I feel better about doing this one thing. If makeup services weren't allowed, I'd do my own, but it'll definitely look better If someone else does it.

I would do a facial the day before. I would do it 2 weeks out. This will give your skin a chance to "purge" . This could lead to a light breakout, some redness and old skin will be shedding a bit. After it's done it job your skin will GLOW!!, ❤️❤️

They are professionals. I'd 1) not skip it. These photos are forever. 2) they are professionals. They know what and how to do it. They need to keep you safe. My glam squad came to my venue, wiped down everything, wore masks and face shields, sanitized between girls. All in all it was a great experience.
