Eyelash Extensions vs. Falsies

Dani, on March 20, 2017 at 12:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Hi all,

I have had eyelash extensions before but have not had them redone for several months (the winter makes me lazy, so what?) I am not one to wear a lot of makeup and prefer to have full lashes with a subtle winged liner.

For my wedding, I can't decide if I should get eyelash extensions again or just use false lashes. Please share your horror stories with me so I can choose which one will be best haha.

I just took mine off because I am currently having the same dilemma. My MUA is going to do my makeup on Saturday for my Bridal Shower and ill decide from there. My MUA is very "do what you want" but she made it a point to tell me that shes not a fan of eyelash extensions because they get in the way when shes doing eyeshadow. I'm starting to think that strip lashes are fuller than extensions, and look better in photos where eyelash extensions don't pop as much. Maybe I need better extensions though.

I'm doing extensions, they feel much more natural in my opinion. I've worn false ones in the past and they were too noticeable and I don't want to be aware of them the whole day.

I am pro strip lashes. I've seen and heard too many horror stories of allergic reactions to glue with extensions. If you have a great strip lash they can look very real and i love that they can be taken off and i can keep my natural lashes lol

@KE - I won't be doing any shadow so I know they won't get in the way, but I'm still having such a tough time deciding. I usually go with a fuller extension look vs. just length.

@Jordan - I agree that extensions look and feel more natural! I was considering strip lashes because I thought it may be easier to try different looks, etc. Can't really do that with extensions.

@Juli - I have had extensions done multiple times before and have not had an allergic reaction or had any of my natural lashes fall out. My only concern with extensions is that I can't try different lengths and styles as easily as I can with strip lashes. I just hate the thought of strip lashes coming unglued. I love them but they're a pain in the ass if you're wearing them for a long period of time.

Thanks so much for all your responses!

I am #teamfalsies- extensions are so damaging and fuck up your lash growth cycle. To me it's not worth the risk when falsies are so easy.

    also- wear make up.

@Jo - I have never had any issues with extensions damaging my lashes. I definitely take care of them and am super careful.

Also, I am wearing makeup. Full coverage foundation/contour and highlight but am not going to wear shadow. Eyeliner and lashes only on the eyes for me. Thanks, though!

If you are on the fence about it then just do the false eyelashes. They are much cheaper and less time consuming. I don't have any horror stories but I did them for my wedding and loved them but will I ever get them again? No.

I just got extensions! I loved them. I did get them removed when I needed a fill though just because I didn't feel like dealing with the upkeep.

I loved my extensions, but this week I actually decided to take a break for a while. I miss wearing eyeliner and also eyelash extensions are $$$$$. I have a habit of picking, too, so I didn't want to risk all my lashes falling out. Extensions feel and look more natural, though. Do what's right for you.

I was trying to decide too. I wear a lot of makeup, the only thing that keeps me thinking about the extensions is for the honeymoon so they look nice there too without having to put a lot of makeup on Smiley smile

@Andrea - that's something I've been thinking about too. We are having a small ceremony and then leaving for a couple weeks. I feel like extensions make you look ready without actually getting ready haha.

Have you thought about individual fake lashes? They're not on a strip so you don't really have to worry about the strip half hanging off and looking wonky. I've never tried them but they seem to look a little more natural but still add the glam.

I say extensions. The falsies might get wet and yada yada yada. I would rather spend the money and have the extensions put on.

Falsies look fake to me. Like a Kardashian...you can see those a mile away. No matter what brand. Extensions, I end up staring at people and thinking...wow, how pretty.

@Mo - that's what I'm thinking I'll go with. That way I don't have to worry about anything going wrong with putting them on either and needing to buy backup.

I am a falsies gal. Extensions are a pain in the butt, and they can get tangled pretty easily. In my opinion it is easier to do makeup without the extensions and they look better in photos.

But it is totally whatever you are comfortable with. Smiley smile
