Tracy, on June 5, 2008 at 9:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Has anyone gotten these done for their wedding &/ or just because.

i got them done last weekend and they look amazing but man what a process, my eyes were closed for over an hour and then when i opened them it burned like you wouldnt believe, they feel a tad heavier...but i really dont notice them that much. They are supposed to last 3 weeks....i dunno, i like them but not sure about getting them done again

OMG, I had them done and could not take them, thank God I did them way before the wedding, my swelled up so bad and I couldnt see, yes they looke beautiful, but I just could not take it, I think I am alergic to the glue they use, Now the hard part was getting them off, it hurt so bad, the lady had to pull them off after 2 days of putting them on, I just couldnt take it, I was actually going to do them the week of the wedding, and I am soooo glad that I didnt wait. So if anyone is considering it do a trial way in advance.

    Hi there.

    Congrats on your weddings.

I am certified in providing Xtreme Eyelash extensions, and I am sorry to hear about your experiences so far.

Xtreme Lashes can last for up to 2 months with lash fills, and the process should not burn at all.

You can use the temporary ones without glue. They have a little sticky on the back, but these are only for the lashes that come whole, as for the separate lashes you have to put them on one by one with glue, I'm not sure if those come in stickies. Hope this helps.

I had the Nova Lash extensions for over a year. After I had a full set, I decided that I only wanted the outer lashes done because it added that extra flare. I have not had them now for about 3 months and my lashes are back to being long and thick....no damage at all...I think they are best for special occasions, unless you have the time and money to maintain them every 3-4 weeks.

I tried Mac Cosmetics eyelashes. They have several different ones to choose from. They are supposed to last for up to 6 applications. I've used mine twice so far. The second time they fit better, they are more formed to your eye shape. They come with glue for sensitive skin. I have really really sensitive eyes, and was hesitant. But they work great and didn't bother me a bit. Only $11 for the lashes & $8 for the glue. Good luck.

I am a local makeup artist and yes, for special occasions I would do the extensions AFTer a trial way before the wedding.

However, I've been using the individuals on my brides and they last a few days, look much more natural and do come off. I have had a few strip lashes not hold through the entire wedding day due to oily lids on the wearer thus I am going to suggest individuals for hot weather weddings!

Good luck on your special day!

I have heard from a couple of people, that if you are not careful and do not go to an experienced person for this, you can lose your eyelashes. I have not had them done personally, but I am tempted to try it at least once. I think to constantly do them is risking losing your real lashes.

I didn't know that there were fake eyelashes that last for three weeks, did a professional do that?

After that awful experience why would you take the chance? My suggestion is to try false lashes. After creating the makeup looks for over 500 weddings and special occasions I have found that the individual lashes are not very secure. They tend to flip around, especially on an emotional bride. The weight of the tears knocks the individual lashes around in odd directions, while a strip lash has much more stability and staying power. The strips can be cut down in size to fit. Many times I just use the outside 1/4 or 1/3 to give a lift. Thanks to the invisible strip they will stay on better than a few individuals. Give it a try and practice a few times. That's how makeup artists learn!

When lash extensions are done correctly they are amazing, the problem is that there are a lot of people out there doing them who do not know what they are doing. You should ask for certification and check online that they are reputable! I am a makeup artist and I use the strip lashes on my ladies who only want the effect for the day. I read from one artist that they find that they don't stay on all day but I have never had a problem as long as I use DUO lash glue, I really find it's the best for all day wear.
