Eye Patch Options

Jenna , on May 28, 2013 at 8:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

I'm getting married in August. I lost my left eye due to accident an last month. I will be wearing an eye patch for my wedding. A designer is working with me to create a custom patch for the wedding. The options that I'm looking at are a white eye patch that is plain, an white eye patch that is decorated with pin stripes of my wedding colors which are black and maroon, or a white eye patch with heart with my and my fiancee's initials on the heart. I will be getting a prosthetic eye later on, but I'm considering wearing eye patches full time.

Thank you Lyzney for the welcome. When I was in the hospital, I had no idea about custom patches until one of counselors brought it up. Right now, I'm still wearing a gauze patch covered by a regular black patch. It is still tough dealing with everything, but I want to make the best out of my situation and when I have my first baby, I will probably have a custom patch done for that too either in baby pink or baby blue.

I want to see pictures, could you do it out of the fabric of your dress?

I like the heart idea with your initials. You could add some bling to it, too.

I will try to post some pics soon when the prototypes are done. Thank you all for the comments. May, the designer brought up bling which I think is cool, but I wouldnt do it for my wedding patch.

I like April's idea of making out of the same material as your dress - is that a possibility?

Maybe you could bling your eye patch similar to the design of your dress... if you have rhinestones, then put rhinestones... pearls, do some pearls.... You could even do it the maroon color and put some blingy stuff on it. Sounds like you have a great attitude and are making the best out of a not ideal situation. Good luck and post some pics of whatever you come up with.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident, but I am glad you're okay! I would consider something with a subtle lace applique. I also like the idea of your initials on there as well. I hope you post some pictures when you get ideas.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm happy to hear that you're okay and doing well.

I like the idea of having a patch that matches your dress, that would look very pretty! And the initials idea I like a lot too. Please post pictures Smiley smile

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. I think a white patch, possibly from the same material as your dress would be the least "distracting," meaning, more focus would be on you, and not solely on the eye patch (especially since this is a new development, and I'm guessing not all of your guests have seen/ will see you you since it happened.)

I have an uncle who lost his eye at a young age. Apparently he used to take out his prosthetic eye and chase other kids in his class with it at recess!

I agree with Hannah, maybe the pin stripped design might be TOO much and would detract from your beautiful face.

I agree with the other girls. It really just depends what you want the focus to be on. Welcome to WW, though, and happy planning!

You could get one that's embroidered to say "Eye Do". Get it? Because it sounds like "I Do"!

Thanks, I'll be here all week.

Joking aside, I really like the idea of using your dress material!

That's just awesome. I do a lot of bead embroidery but never once considered doing an eyepatch! I think you just inspired me! This is a bracelet I did a while back; it should be fun to adapt.
