Eye Bags/darkness in Wedding Photos

Hi all! My husband and I got married a month ago, and had our engagement photos taken a year ago. When we got the engagement photos back, I realized I had dark circles/bags under my eyes in a lot of them, so I went to Sephora and got an eye serum to help take away the darkness. It seemed to work well. I also told my makeup artist that I wanted to correct any darkness with the makeup. On our wedding day, I didn’t think I had bags under my eyes (didn’t notice any when looking in the mirror and taking selfies). But we got a preview of about 100 photos back from our photographer, and I have dark bags under my eyes in almost all of them

I haven’t asked anyone if they notice them at all because if they say yes than I feel like it will make me more upset, but I feel like I notice and it takes away from the photos. I’m not sure if it was the lighting or my makeup or what, but I don’t have eye bags like that in other photos from other days. We don’t have the final gallery back yet so I’m really hoping that when we get it, it will be better. There are some photos where other people have eye bags too but mine are the worst by far. In this situation, would you guys consider asking the photographer to edit them out in a few that we would be hanging up? Would that be weird to ask? I feel a little silly feeling this way but I was disappointed when I saw them. Thank you all

Hii!!! Hmm.. I wouldn’t feel weird asking your photographer to do a little editing ! Really ! It’s common for them to edit, erase, lighten,darken etc.. so I would just sit down with him/her and go over what you want done !! They might charge you but it’s worth it if it’s going to bother you!

I'd definitely ask your photographer to edit them! It honestly might be your bone structure? If your cheekbones are super pronounced, it might just be a shadow!

Thank you all! Yes, I think they are indeed shadows as some pictures don’t have them. I think I’ll wait till we have the final gallery back from our photographer and then go from there. The pictures themselves are beautiful and we are so happy with them otherwise

I feel like as looking at ourselves in mirrors, photos etc we see things that others don’t even notice. However if it does bother you (I understand because I have dark circles naturally under my eyes all the time and know they can be a pain—whether from lack of sleep, stress, medical condition etc-they suck)
I recommend maybe using Lightroom from adobe and use their tools to maybe blur them out? They also have other tools. And I’m sure there are other editing apps/programs that are available to be able to get the desired look you’re going for. If possibly even remove the darkness completely from your face.

Thank you so much, Star! We have since received our full gallery, and the colouring is a bit lighter than the ones we received in the preview, and I don't notice the eye bags in them, thankfully! We couldn't be happier with them. Thank you all so much for the help, and I hope you're all staying well during this crazy time.

I'm a photographer and editing out eye bags wouldn't be too hard to do, but will take some time and is generally a more targeted adjustment than some wedding photographers typically do. If you want those edits made to the bulk of your photos don't be surprised if the photographer charges a slight extra fee, but if you only want edits to a handful of photos I would think your photographer could accommodate that pretty easily.

Oh just saw this! It's possible your preview photos weren't edited the same. Usually photographers want to turn around previews quickly, but may go back and make some changes once they work through the full album. I'm so glad you like your photos!
