Extra rsvp ppl

Aleaj, on September 12, 2019 at 4:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Ok guys i have a little problem. I accepted my rsvps the wrong way. When i sent out my invitations, i put down the number of reserved seats for each household. Even still, some people added extra guests, which i accepted. Long story short, my seats filled up faster than i expected before my rsvp deadline, and i still have people who were initially invited sending in rsvps. What should i do? *No rude responses please, already stressed*

Contact the people who added extra guests and tell them that's a no-go. Just a simple "hey we're so glad you can make it to the wedding, but unfortunately we aren't able to accommodate any additional guests" Smiley smile

If people added extras to their RSVP you may need to call them to let them know you have limited space and cannot accommodate plus ones (or however many). It isn't fair to those that received the invitation to be pushed aside or miss out on a seat because others brought extra people. We all want to have a more the merrier when it comes to celebrating, but your venue and budget sometimes force us to have difficult conversations with people.

You already told specific guests that it was okay to bring more people? If that's the case, I feel like you don't have very many options without running the risk of getting some really upset people. The only things I can think of is telling these people you made a mistake in accepting the additional guests and hope they don't get too flustered by it or preparing to accommodate all of the rsvp's you've accepted as much as possible.

I would contact the people with extra guests and let them know that unfortunately you no longer can accommodate their extra guests. I would apologize and be polite and just let them know that even though you would love to have everyone at your wedding due to seating you just simply cannot.

You need to reach out to the people who added extra guests and tell them that you cannot accommodate them. Of course you shouldn't have told them that they could bring extra people in the first place, but this is the only option besides turning down guests who were originally invited. Surely this would be the better choice.

I agree with all above advice!! The only other thing you could do is let your venue and caterer know that your guest count is X amount higher than expected and just pay the extra money to add the extra people, otherwise, you're going to have to have those uncomfortable convos as advised above. I don't see any other options. Good luck girl, you can do it!!

Can you cut costs in other areas if you have more guests than you anticipate? Like in flowers & food?
