Experiences with Stillwhite?

Marissa, on August 14, 2019 at 6:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Just wondering everyone's experiences with StillWhite.com, whether selling or buying. I bought a dress I didn't love and I'm trying to sell it on both preownedweddingdresses.com and stillwhite.com because I just want to get it out of the closet (I got a new dress that I do in fact love). I got a few inquiries from Preowned but just posted it on stillwhite at the advice of others. What are your experiences?

I bought a dress on Stillwhite and didnt love it and another one that I am keeping. I posted the first dress on StillWhite and two other sites but still have not been sold. Some dresses Ive looked at take several months to sell. I think i’m going to lower the price soon.

Good luck!! I've browsed both sites but I've never bought or sold anything. I wonder if you could sell your dress to a boutique if you haven't had the dress altered. You could also try FaceBook. I know of some women who have bought their dresses there.

I had a very amazing experience buying a dress through stillwhite.com. I tried on a dress a local bridal boutique which was way out of my price range (I know I shouldn't have) and ended up falling in love with my dress even though it was nothing like what I had originally planned on wearing. I went home and tried to get the dress out of my head. I did some research online and ended up finding this website. I looked up the dress and I was shocked to see someone was selling it in my size and all. I was so happy!! I ended up negotiating a little with the seller on the price but ended up buying it for $800 when it would have been over $2000 at the store. I tried it on when it arrived and it fits like a glove. I am so happy with the results. Smiley laugh

I just bought my wedding dress on StillWhite. I'm very happy with it even though it was misrepresented some. The seller said the only alterations were that they added a bustle and a belt, but the dress clearly had additional work done - the shoulders had been taken up, push-up bra cups were added, and I'd be surprised if the dress had not been hemmed or ordered in a shorter length because it's pretty short (not too short for me, but much shorter than gowns I tried on at the bridal boutique, and I expect wedding dresses to run long). I was able to remove the cups and shoulder seams myself and the hem length works for me so I lucked out. The dress cost me 20% of what it would have if I bought it new (like AnaA, the original dress was way out of my price range). Overall I'm super happy with my find!

I really wanted a pre-owned wedding dress because I wanted to save money and I felt like I would enjoy a dress more if I didn't have to worry about ruining it (when things are pristine I want to keep them that way as much as possible, especially if they are expensive, but once they are no longer brand new I actually enjoy using them). I shopped on all the pre-owned sites in the USA that I could find and liked StillWhite's interface the best. It gives buyers the best search options by far and it's super easy to set up custom searches and alerts. It also uses larger images that Preownedweddingdresses.com and just seemed more user friendly and intuitive for me.

When listing your dress, I'd say just be super honest as the seller and provide as much info as you can, including your own photos, not just stock images. Anything that makes the dress less than new should be noted, including alterations and any fraying/stains, etc. Add your measurements and height with shoes in - it's super helpful for buyers! The more info you give the more confident buyers will be, you will be less likely to waste your time answering questions from brides who the dress isn't a good fit for, and it will be less likely that a buyer will file a dispute because they are unhappy. Picking a wedding gown is stressful enough and no bride-to-be should have the added stress of ending up with a dress they hate because it was falsely advertised. Also be sure to check your messages and answer questions in a timely manner - brides to be will look elsewhere if you don't communicate well. Good luck selling your dress!
