I haven't done this but want to and give it to my FH as a gift prior to the wedding Smiley smile I have a friend who does them though and the all look really nice and classy so I would say do your research and make sure you're comfortable in front of a stranger or whoever you have take them!

I would like some done before my wedding but yes, you do want to make sure they remain private.

I am getting boudoir done for my fiance but also for myself because it is a MAJOR confidence booster!! I bought a sexy bustier from VS that I am wearing for some. I am also having my photographer take a few in my normal bra and underwear with my wedding veil and also a couple in my fiance's button up shirts. Look them up on pinterest and you'll get some great inspiration!

About the above comment: If you choose a good photographer, you shouldn't have to worry about them plastering your photos online without your permission. That is actually very illegal. You can discuss with the photographer before hand what their privacy policy is.

A good boudoir photographer should have you sign a release for images you are okay with sharing or not okay with sharing. Mine had a thing I signed and I said I wasn't okay with sharing.

I love my photos! It was a big confidence booster! Definitely get your hair and makeup professionally done.

I did some last December. On kind of a whim, I told FH about them to see if he would want to join. He was only involved for a few of the photos but the experience was that much better because I had him there with me. That being said, some of my favorite photos are of me by myself. I feel much more confident about my body and I have some sexy photos of the two of us together. Win win!

ETA: Your friend should definitely have signed a release form. That is not normal.

I think they could be really cool. My only advice is to pick your photographer carefully. My friend got them done and her photographer had her in this super porny pose. Like legs totally spread. Her man did not appreciate it; in fact, they creeped him out! However, I've seen others done beautifully! Just know your FH's tastes and pick the photographer based on that.

My FH has said that he wouldn't like it so obviously I'm not doing it haha. I think it could be really fun though!

Definitely get a good photographer. The porn pose does sound creepy! Mine are all classy and you don't see anything you wouldn't see if I was in a bathing suit. I paid a lot for my boudoir photographer. But she is definitely the most talented in the area. She has her own studio just for boudoir photos. A ton of props/corsets for clients to use. It was an awesome experience. But what I got cost 1000. You get what you pay for. I look awesome and I still look like me. I am very happy.

I did it in place of an engagement shoot. I'm so happy I did. I just gave the book to my husband on our wedding day and he's been dying to get the thumb drive with all the images. My confidence definitely boosted. ETA: I wasn't nude in any of mine. I wore my husband's football jersey at first and he loves those photos! With my job, those can't be leaked and my photographer knows that

Yikes @Melissa this is exactly my thought process how do you know these photos cant be leaked, hacked, shared, compromised, etc? The answer is likely you don't know for sure.

I don't want to be a troll but how is this different than nudes? Other than that they are professional photos of course. Bc nudes are from party A to party B. But boudoir photos involve a 3rd party (party C) and opens the door to other parties. Its so scary to me. What have you ladies done to protect yourself from these privacy issues?

Any idea how to find a photographer? I don't see a search feature on WW and googling isn't coming up with much

I actually had a friend that used mine who recommended her. But I think you can look for them on the knot

My FH actually told me he'd have no interest in there. I'm a very wholesome and sweet person and that's what he likes about me. I had never thought about it but he heard about it somewhere and said don't do it!

I have a two friends in particular who want to be "models" who have had this type of photos down and posted their photos on Facebook but they should definitely be kept private. I've seen good ones and bad ones pop up. Research your photographer.

@ Marlene: Because boudoir photography typically does not involve nudes? It's just sexy photography.

@Marlene none of mine are nude. At most you see exactly what you would see if I was at the pool, and actually some of my photos you see less than that. They are just sexy and suggestive. A lot of my favorite ones I'm wearing a robe.

@Jess, google would be your best option. I did mine in Denver with Under the Garter and loved it.

I have mine scheduled for April. I found her through google but it took a lot of research to find someone that had photos that matched what I want. I think I googled wedding boudoir photographer Jacksonville FL. Before even emailing her, I also followed her instagram. She has very classy but sexy boudoir photos posted so I decided to make the leap and hire her. Some of hers are nude but always classy like just side boob or something. As far as posting goes, discuss this with your photographer before hiring. My photographer even says on her website to let her know if you don't want certain images posted. I requested no face and no tattoo (it's a way to identify me) posted anywhere. She said that's no issue. Most of the pictures I have seen her post have been unidentifiable as to who the person is. Very few have included a face and she never tags anyone in the photos. This post is a good reminder for me to ensure that I have it in writing that she won't tag me if she posts any of the pictures that I said I would be okay with. She's never done that from what I have seen but still good to remember to mention it to her. I think it's very important to have laid out guidelines about what pictures can be used for advertising and/or social media before you have the pictures taken and definitely look at their portfolio before hiring. I've seen many boudoir pictures that just don't look classy to me, they look cheap IMO. Do a lot of research in your area before hiring to ensure you find the right person because it's a very intimate photo shoot.

@Rayla & @Miranda thanks for clarifying. I've never actually seen one and its not common at all in my "crowd." So I don't know what it entails other than "sexy." In fact, the first person I heard do one was Adrianne Bailon in 2016 for her husband Israel Houghton. But of course sexy means different things for different people. So I suppose there are decent ones like yours @Miranda and not so decent ones.

I would be horrified seeing pictures of my friend on Facebook in a thong too! That does not make that photographer look professional at all.

@marlene it's no problem. Smiley smile

I'm doing a shoot in a couple weeks. My advice is to make sure you like your photographer. You need to be comfortable with her/him. Also if they do a consultation, make sure you take a day to think about it.
