So my wedding is 8/31/2018 and today it hit that I really hate all of the expectations and traditions that are put on me and my FH. My FH is Indian so there are so many traditional things and expectations from his family that we have to meet and do and then there are the traditional wedding things...

So my wedding is 8/31/2018 and today it hit that I really hate all of the expectations and traditions that are put on me and my FH. My FH is Indian so there are so many traditional things and expectations from his family that we have to meet and do and then there are the traditional wedding things the we are "supposed' to do.

Today I wished I just would have went to the courthouse to get married in front of my closet friends and family. I'm tried of trying to figure out everything for everybody, getting opinions on everything, and spending money (i'm very careful with money.).

I don't mean to sound bitter but I think I'm just tired of thinking about every little detail and slightly overwhelmed. Maybe I just need a snack and a nap. I just want to eat french fries right now to make myself feel better!

Now I've lost to much weight and all 3 of my dresses are now to big so maybe the french fries will help! LOL!!!

I"m starting to feel better now that I've gotten that out of my system.

Thanks for reading!

Did any other brides feel this way?

Mine is in 4 days. And I got a call from one of my grandmothers saying that if I don’t find a place for my brother to stay Friday night he won’t be at the rehearsal. He’s part of the wedding, so now on top of my FH emergency dentist appointment tomorrow to get a tooth pulled, which guests coming in starting tomorrow I now have to figure out how I can get my brother at the rehearsal. Hopefully you can figure out your dresses. And keep in mind that once the day is done and you look back you’ll be thankful you incorporated his family traditions! It will be beautiful!! Just a few more weeks!!!

Haha, uhh, I totally relate to this and my wedding is more than 9 months away 😂 I had all but a meltdown this past week about how I felt like the wedding wasn’t even for us anymore.

The thing is, no matter what you do it isn’t going to be perfect. I’m trying to remind myself that at least we’ll be making our friends and family happy to, and trying to just make the best of the day. I think losing the expectation that it’s supposed to be the best day of my life has really brought me back to sanity lol. It’s just one day of a very long life together! Ditch the expectations, enjoy the day for what it is, spend time with family and friends, bask in your new husband’s company, etc. Your marriage will be full of days that are much more wonderful than your wedding day, I guarantee that!

Hang in there, couples! The last 30 days I was soooo over it. Then the week before we had family stay with us, hubby got sick & we had a major spat. (Our stress was so bad our sweet girl kitty got TWO bladder infections that month. After $1K in tests, it was stress). After we packed up 4 SUVs with DIY decor and headed out for our DW...we relaxed. Went into bliss mode. Everything was amazing. Hang in there...it’s so worth it!

Yes girl! I feel your pain! I’m having a November wedding and I’m already stressed because things are adding up really quickly! I’m also stressing of getting into my dress and dieting. It all just takes a toll but it helps to breathe, relax, and remind yourself why you’re doing this to begin with. You’re not marrying your FH family or yours, you picked him! So I’m the end when you wonder if your guests are talking bad about how the cake tastes in the end his happiness is most important Smiley smile

My husband is Indian too Smiley laugh We had our traditional Indian wedding back in his hometown on 7/5/2018.

It was a three day event, and that was already a consolidated one... I did feel exhausted and annoyed. I even got angry the last night of the wedding when it finished at 4am!!

But it was lots of fun when I look back Smiley smile

OMG Thank you all so much for the support and laughter!! This thread made me feel 100 times better and yes I did eat some french fries and my FH took me to a movie and we ordered lots of snacks.

I am 15 days away and I'm ready for the process to be over but I know when that day comes I will only care about the memories that I will make with my family and friends.

I WILL NOT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!!!

OMG!!! The whole 3 days is a lot for me but he and his parents assured me that it's going to be lot of fun. Now that I've calmed down I'm excited about the whole thing.
