Excitement and rookie coordinator

Claudia, on June 13, 2019 at 4:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So no one seems to be as excited about the wedding like I thought everyone would be. Nothing has gone as I have expected. Does it get better the closer the date or something ??

also I’m stressing over my coordinator - this will be her first wedding . Should I just fire her and pay way more for an experienced one ? Ugh

No one will be as excited about your wedding as you are. Hopefully there will be more anticipation the closer it gets, but it really depends on your circle.

I get that everyone has to start somewhere, but my wedding isn't the place to do it lol. I feel like most coordinators start out with friend's or family's weddings and work their way up once they get experience. I would pay more for someone who knew what they were doing as opposed to wasting money on someone who has no clue.

Caytlyn is right. No one will be as excited as you are about the wedding. It sucks and feels lonely sometimes but maybe you can talk to your bridesmaids or maid of honor for just 10 minutes about the wedding and then something else to get your mind off of planning.

Has your coordinator gone to school for event planning and graduated? Has she worked in the industry? Maybe not weddings but other events? Has she worked as an assistant to a wedding coordinator in the past? She should have some sort of experience before taking on a whole wedding single handed.

I believe she graduated from a university . And yes it gets very lonely even when I do try to talk wedding to them it just feels like I’m a broken record and I’m annoying them so sometimes I just don’t.

My friends began to get excited once save the dates went out. So yes, as time goes on, people get more excited.

Has your coordinator done something to warrant being fired? You hired her for a reason, but now just because she’s isn’t experienced you want to fire her? You knew her experience level when you hired her. Unless she has done something wrong, I don’t see why you’d fire her now.

I am not even excited yet for my own wedding so nobody else is going to care besides maybe your mom and maybe FH, but even then guys don't care that much and probably won't til closer. It hasn't set in for me yet and I am almost to 100 days out. I think once the bridal shower and bachelorette and invites go out I will feel it more. Additionally, has your coordinator done any type of event before or has a degree doing this line of work? I agree with Meghan, unless she has done something wrong I wouldn't fire her. I think it's a great opportunity to really get what you want and work with her to accomplish your vision!
