Exchanging Rings - Overlapping engagement ring and wedding band

Betsy, on May 13, 2014 at 4:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Need some advice -- So our wedding is this weekend and I'm trying to figure out how to handle the ring exchange. You see, my engagement ring and wedding band are one of those sets that interlock. As in you can't really put then on one at a time, but rather all at once. However, they don't stay together without holding when off your hand. So I'm worried that it's going to be cumbersome for him to put them on me together in the moment. I know some girls wear their E ring on the right or not at all and then fix it after the ceremony. But my wedding band isn't really wearable by itself. It has a big bracket/space in the middle wear the E ring overlaps.

Thoughts? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Have your FH practice pulling them out of his pocket or taking them off a pillow, putting them together, and putting them on your finger.

I had him put on my wedding band and then the e-ring. We had the officiant even say something about the e-ring: it was a promise and now the promise is fulfilled...

I agree with Nancy T. Seems like the simple solution.

My rings interlock but don't have to be put on together. FH will be practicing putting them on if we decide to do both.

I was just having this conversation this afternoon with my fiancé! My engagement ring does not come on or off without a lot of windex on the knuckle, ( advise from my florist and it really works), and some pretty interesting gasps from pain. It is not a happy chore so mine just never comes off. Everyone else said to practice. I say it is good that you are thinking of this ahead of time to avoid awkward ceremony memories. You have five days to make it work!

Why not tie a tiny knot with fishing line around either side so they stay together to avoid and fumbling or dropping of the rings. Better safe than sorry Smiley smile
