Excellence Riviera Cancun or Excellence Playa Mujeres

Girl! We went to Excellence Riviera for a wedding two years ago and it was awesome. My only mild complaint was food quality--occasionally. But it was still delicious

Are you partial to Excellence resorts? As I have also heard great things about Sandals resorts as all-inclusive honeymoon options with many destinations. You could try their website too, to see if any of their destinations interest you!

We just got back from the Valentin Imperial Maya and it was gorgeous, lush, spread out (room to stroll around), fun, romantic, etc.

I spent an entire weekend researching all of the adults only all-inclusive resorts in Cancun. We ended up booking the Excellence Riviera and I’m so happy with our choice! I think the Riviera and the Playa Mujeres are very similar. The two main differences I noticed are that the Riviera was slightly cheaper (only slightly) and a bit further south, closer to Playa del Carmen.

We ended up picking the Riviera because I didn’t want to be so close to the downtown city area.

If you think you’re going to want to go clubbing or go out dancing late at night in the hotel district, or check out Downtown Cancun, then PM may be a better option for you. It’s much closer to that area. We decided we didn’t want to do any late night outings away from the resort for our honeymoon.

I know a downside to Cancun is that there parts of it have a big seaweed issue occasionally (it’s going on right now), that makes the beaches unswimable. The RIviera does an excellent job of cleaning it up off of the beach though. I’m not sure if the PM has the same isssue since it doesn’t face the same direction. We don’t care too much about that though, we plan on spending most of our time in the plunge pool on our terrace and the main swimming pools.

The best thing to do is read the reviews on Trip Advisor. Both have really great reviews (and amazing honeymoon reviews). But the reviews should help you figure out which one is a better pick for you.

Sandals is a great option, but they do not have any resorts in Cancun.

And we stayed at a Secrets resort last year, they were okay. I loved the resort and the location, but the food was not good. I was told there would be vegetarian options everywhere, but every restaurant I went to they were almost always out of that option. And my fiancé only liked one or 2 of the meals he had. Room service was also pretty awful there. The staff were amazing though and I still had a great time. But we decided we wouldn’t stay at a Secrets again because it doesn’t fit the things we are looking for in a resort. But everyone is different.

I am planning on booking excellence cancun. more budget friendly it seems. any advice on what to book through? i was going to do it through their site but thought id ask around first

We ended up doing the excellence rivera cancun and had a great time! The service was impeccable and the food was great. We didn't end up going in the water because of seaweed but personally the pools were amazing. The spa was great too! Overall great experience! Hope this helps anyone considering!

Some of the pools aren’t heated, so we didn’t swim much in the pool outside our room, but there were plenty close by!
