ex father in law to walk me down the aisle

Christina, on March 8, 2015 at 9:12 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

My ex husband an I met when I was just 13 years old. We married young. Needless to say his family and I grew very close. My father and step father have both passed and my ex father in law has agreed to step in for them at my upcoming wedding. My ex husband and I have remained close friends. My problem is that I'm having a very hard time finding a father daughter song that would fit our unique situation. There are so many beautiful songs but they just don't seem to fit. Not to mention that I hear these beautiful songs and start getting teary missing my dad and step dad. I know that my situation is unique and any help would be welcomed.

Honestly I'd just skip the father-daughter dance. Did you have one with your father in your first wedding? If so, then doing another one with another man might just be too painful.

My dad died when I was younger, and I just skipped the father-daughter dance. My father was dead; I didn't want anyone to take his place.

I love Louis Armstrong- what a wonderful world. That's or somewhere over the rainbow - Hawaiian version. they're my father/ daughter dances choices! I would also not shy away from the songs that do remind you of your father and step father-choosing a song for them is a beautiful way of quietly honoring them at your wedding.

I love my ex father in law as much as I loved my dad and step dad. I would love to dance with him at the ceremony. I like the idea of somewhere over the rainbow because it still represents my dad and step dad. Thank you so much for the advice.

I was going to suggest What a Wonderful World too. Somewhere Over the Rainbow is a good fit too.
