Evite save the dates. Yay or nay?

Gabrielle, on June 8, 2017 at 3:00 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

I was thinking about sending an evite as the save the dates then a formal invitation to follow but I'm not sure weather that's tacky or not. Please help!!!

I would just send an email to your VIPs and any important OOT guests so they can make travel arrangements. You also have a ton of time before you have to decide on this. Save the dates are usually sent 6-8 months before the wedding.

I don't think I've ever received an Evite for a wedding-related event, though I have received a Paperless Post invitation to a post-wedding breakfast, and I didn't find that tacky at all.

    Nay.

Save the Dates are optional, anyway. Just skip them if you don't want to spend the money. You might as well just let your VIPs know the date in conversation.

Depends on your situation. We have a lot of Canadian family. One of the Canadian cousins is getting married to an Irishman. So, they have a ton of international travelers and I bet the postage for that would be horrendous. They sent Save The Date via email and thought that made sense just to get the word out for everybody to schedule their travel plans and take time off work.

I do not think it's tacky. I have received one and was still excited to be invited.

But look into Paperless Post or try the Evites w/o ads.

Know your crowd honestly. Save the dates are optional so you don't have to send them at all. If your crowd seems like they would react positively to an evite STD, then go for it!

Go for it. i've gotten them for three different weddings. try using paperless post instead of evite-- they are also free, and look a bit classier Smiley smile

I don't judge people's weddings based on their invitations or STDs so I don't mind receiving an evite, but make sure that you have updated email addresses and if you have older people who need to know in advance, I'd mail those.

One of my friends did hers in a way that I could just click a button and it added on my device calendars. I was super impressed with that. Wish I could figure that out lol, I wasn't going to send STDs, but if I could figure out the download-to-calendar thing I'd be super happy

I just sent personal emails to our guests like an invite (1 per couple etc). Didn't want to go with another third party.
