Event decorator

Kristen, on January 8, 2012 at 9:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Has anyone hired an all inclusive "decorator"? We are trying to figure out what will make the most sense for what we want for our reception. We know that we want to upgrade the linens and do chair covers, obviously need a florist, we want lighting, and also an ice sculpture at the very least. Within our list of vendors that our venue provided there are "event decorating companies" that do it all. I am a bit skeptical about the quality but do you think this sounds like a good idea? I think it would probably be cheaper to hire someone to do it all (not to mention easier). Any thoughts?

I've worked with event designers before and generally the work is spectacular. It totally depends on who you hire, and what you're budgeting for decor… but if you can afford the service go for it.

Melissa~ a DOC runs an event from start to finish. A designer or decorator is a David Tuterra type… Think an interior designer for an event. He or she will design your space and take care of all of the decor. (rentals/florals/ceremony/lighting/ambiance/etc).
