Evening out tanlines?

Jos1219, on November 11, 2015 at 1:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

So I'm pretty pale, and when I dare go out in the sun, I immediately burn. I STILL have farmer's tanlines on my arms from wearing T-shirts all the time this summer/fall and I'm worried it's still going to look weird when the wedding comes. My dress is strapless, so the awkward tanlines will be quite noticeable. My question is: What self-tanning lotions/sprays have you used and what would be the best way to apply so that it looks even and my hands don't turn orange? I've heard St. Tropez is good but expensive.

I can't do the tanning bed route because I tried once and got claustrophobic AND burned after 3 minutes.. and also not looking for further skin cancer risk at this point. I'm also afraid a pro spray tan will turn me orange. I'm just looking for some subtle self-tanner suggestions to even out this line action I've got going on. Don't really care about looking super tan for my winter wedding, just even toned. Thanks!

I used to work at a tanning salon, and it's true that if you burn outside...you likely will not tan in the bed. I know you said you're nervous about spray tanning, but I used to be 100% against it until I tried it. If you ever decide to try one, use a Versa (NEVER a Mystic) for the most natural results. BUY THE PRIMER! I can't stress that enough. And make sure you go in exfoliated. Spray tanning done right looks so natural and covers up tan lines. California Tan products has a really good self-tanning lotion. I loved it. It didn't have that yucky self-tanner smell either. We sold in in the salon, so you could probably find it at salons that carry CalTan products!

I am also pale. FH calls me milkshake lol. I spray tanned for a wedding this past weekend and LOVED it. I spray tanned Wednesday evening. Rinsed my body off Thursday morning. Showered with soap Friday afternoon. By Saturday my tan was AMAZING. I wasn't orange and I felt really confident. I definitely wasn't dark by any means. It was a very pretty glow.

If you're worried about spray tanning I suggest going to a salon a couple of times beforehand to figure out what works for your skin. Also do custom spray tanning where the person doing the application actually sprays you with a hand-held spraycan and not a booth.

Also remember to exfoliate and shave/wax before your appointment. Moisturize like crazy after. I used Aleo Vera's after sun moisturizer.

I hear EXCELLENT things about Dr Dennis Gross glow pads (they have them for body and face). I bought some of the face ones but haven't tried yet. Also, I bought the St. Tropez to mix in with my regular lotion, as I hear that's a great trick for "maintenance" after you've used the glow pads to get your "base."
