European style grooms suits

That looks like a tuxedo to me. Has he looked at tuxedos (either renting or buying)? Or if he doesn’t want a tuxedo, is he looking for a slim fit suit?

The white shirt in the photos is definitely a special tux style shirt since it has the special black buttons. Tuxes have come a long way these days... your FH should be able to fine something as sleek or bold as he likes (none of the old cheesy tuxes of prior generations! 😁).


Also, for your groomsmen, consider that your FH can have an elevated look. So he could wear the tux while the groomsmen wear traditional suits in a similar shade. My husband wore a black tux and his groomsmen and our fathers wore black suits. Looked great and everyone was happy budget wise.

The shirt, jacket, and pants are just regular tux pieces. Order them in a slim fit to achieve that look. Shoes look more like loafers (only some rental places offer a variety of shoe options, though). You will probably need to purchase the waistcoat and accessories for everyone. Tux rental companies don't have a good variety of accessories.

That's a tuxedo. You can get almost that exact same outfit from Charles Tyrwhitt, either in black or midnight blue (both classic colors for evening formal wear). The only difference is that the vest would be single breasted instead of double breasted. He would want the peak lapel jacket.

But a single breasted vest is arguably more traditional.

If he wants to rent he can get almost the same thing from The Black Tux, only difference would be a "V" shaped vest instead of a "U" shaped vest. I love the look of a U shaped vest but V shaped are equally classic. V-shaped is what Cary Grant always went with.

I just stumbled across this image and remembered this post. Just in case you haven't gotten this sorted out yet - this is what the outfit from Charles Tyrwhitt looks like, seems like it could be a good option.
