Etsy order fiasco

Abigail, on March 14, 2020 at 10:21 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
So I order my guy’s ties on Etsy a month ago, the estimated delivery time (from China) was 15 days. We have long passed that. The shop owner will not respond to any of my messages. My wedding is in two weeks but I leave in one week to travel there. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want the guys to not have ties. And I spent so much money to get them. What can I do?

Unfortunately because of the virus I don't think there is much you can do. My only suggestion would be to buy other ties that would match as you likely won't have them before the wedding. I'm sorry this is happening.

I agree with PP, you are going to need to buy other ties. The shop owner could be sick & unable to respond

Put in a dispute with Etsy to get your money back. Unfortunately, the owner may be dealing with a crisis and can't assist.

In the meantime, go buy new ties. You can go to a store, do Amazon Prime, or search ready-to-ship Etsy stores in your area.

Second Amazon Prime. I ordered 5 ties to try with groom’s suit. All made in China but shipped from nearby distribution center. Ordered Sunday, delivered Tuesday. Good quality and inexpensive. I think the brand is “hisdern” or something. Good luck!!

We ordered from etsy and recieved some really cheap ties. So we returned them and found some really good deals at Macys. They're always having a sale. They were much better quality and not much different in price on sale.

I would say appeal to etsy and explain to them the actions you have taken. I wouldn't be surprised if the national crisis has something to do with the shipping/ communication issues.
When shopping on etsy I realized i needed to scrutinize who i was purchasing from and tried to keep it within the USA due to my own concerns about shipping times, quality, and communication.

How much have you surpassed the ship/delivery date? Do you have tracking information?

If you left a big enough window and don't have evidence that the ties have even been shipped, I would file a dispute with Etsy. If they are only a bit overdue (like they were supposed to arrive a few days ago and have been delayed, but you have a tracking number or DHL shipping information and know they are out there in the world somewhere) you may not have much you can do for recourse and should probably 1) wait and hope they come on time AND 2) come up with a backup plan (a method of obtaining other ties) if needed.

Hey everyone, thanks for the helpful advice and comments. I finally heard back from the shop owner after starting a dispute with Etsy. They are working on resending the package with express shipping. Fingers crossed it is here by Friday!
