Etsy Buyer Beware

I found out today that Etsy sides with their sellers not their buyers. So I recently purchased an item for the wedding through Etsy. It was 80$ The person had great reviews and great pictures that were posted by previous purchasers. I had no reason to expect anything out of the ordinary. Fast forward a few weeks and I got my item. It was in very poor condition (it looked like they did it as fast as they could or just were not paying attention to detail) and it was damaged. I won’t be able to use it. I sent A message to the seller and got no response for three days so I made a case. They responded and offered me a 20% Coupon for my next purchase with them. I told them that 20% was unacceptable due to the condition it was in and that I would not use it to make another purchase with them. I wanted at least a 50% refund or a replacement at no cost to me. No response for 5 more days. I escalated the case and the seller finally commented telling me to pick 20% off my next purchase or 20% refunded to me. The mediator of the case told me exactly what they had said and told me to pick one. When I again said this was not acceptable the case mediator closed the case after my one response with no response from the seller based on what I said. I called Etsy and asked why further action was not taken and was told if the mediator decides to close the case they can do nothing more to help me. They also said the seller was an active responder towards a resolution and that I was being unreasonable. (I asked For 50% or a replaced product!) Anyways after all that I have learned That Etsy will side with the seller. Be careful when ordering with them. ☹️☹️
