Essense of Australia D2230

Michaela, on October 29, 2018 at 2:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Has anyone ever tried on or purchased Essense of Australia D2230? Only one salon near me carries the brand and I just called and it’s not in stock. Curious to see photos of a real try on and how realistic to street clothing is their sizing?

My dress was Martina Liana which is the same company as Essence. In my experience bridal sizing is extremely different than street sizing. I would recommend getting measured and going by their measurement guides.

I can't speak specifically to Essence of Australia, but my dress is Stella York which is a subset or whatever of Essence of Australia and their sizing was pretty accurate to street clothing sizes. I'm usually a 12 in dresses and I was a 12 for my wedding dress as well.

My dress is Essence of Australia. I wear a street size 2 (pants and dresses), and my dress is an 8... it was way different for me!

Hi Michaela! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats on your engagement!

That dress is absolutely gorgeous! Smiley heart

As mentioned in the previous comments, getting yourself measured and looking at Essense of Australia's measurement guides will definitely help. Different designers are going to have a different fit, and compared to street clothing sizes it's hard to know for sure.

You could visit the salon near you that carries other Essense of Australia dresses, to get an idea of sizing and get professionally measured? That way, if you do decide to order this D2230 gown, you know your measurements and how other dresses by this designer fit. Smiley heart

I cannot speak to the specific brand but when i tried on multiple dresses I had to size up to a 6, I am a street size 4 but my wedding dress is a 6 (and could have been an 8 other than the fact that I have a small chest, lol!) I'd definitely try some on and go with what fits best.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions!! I think I’ll definitely have to get measured, I’m just nervous to order a dress I’ve never seen in person! I’ll have to keep hunting

My dress is also a Martina Liana and I wear a street size 6 but had to order a size 10 dress. I think the only way to find out is by getting measured at the boutique and maybe trying on a similar Essence of Australia dress.

Agree with PP that their sizing is very different than street. I wear a size 4/6 in dresses and somehow ended up with a 6 (note, that I did end up with a different dress but not for sizing reason). Most other gowns I'm like an 8/10.

Not the best answer, but do they have something similar you could try on? Clearly not the same, but style D2126 , D2147 and D2486 are close.

I had the opposite experience with Stella York. My usual dress size is a 10, and my wedding dress was a 14 (perfect fit)

I’ve tried on the EED2258 it was a sample size 22 and I’m like a 14/16.. and it was still a little too small. I definitely recommend getting measured.

My dress is a different Essense of Australia and I was measured as almost exactly my street size, 16/18 (I decided to err on the side of 18 to be safe since I just barely fit into the 16 measurements). I was shocked at how close it was!

Check out their sizing chart! I found my Stella York to be fairly close to street size. Mine was a size 4 and I usually wear a 0-2 bottom and 4 top!
