Escort cards/plated meal choice

Sarah, on July 4, 2017 at 12:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

Hi everyone! We have chosen to have a plated dinner and our venue offers 2-3 meal options for our guests to chose from. How should you note what meal each guest has chosen? Is this something you should note on escort cards/ place cards or is there another way you can make sure everyone gets what they ordered?

I think most people do it on the escort cards unless your venue will allow you to tell them the number of each per table and they ask each person. I am doing stamps of the animal (cow, chicken and carrot). Another option is color coding.

Ask your venue what they want. Most prefer that you give some sort of indication on the placecard. You can use symbols, stickers, different colored cards or embellishment etc. You can get lots of ideas online.

I would put it on the escort card so people can't "change their minds" and screw up the numbers, haha.

We're having each guest's menu option noted on their place cards.

We have 3 different dinner options so I plan to use 3 different color escort cards to go along with the meal choice

I think it's best to put the guest's choice on the escort card. i often forget what I requested when I RSVP'd.

We will put a sticker on the back of the escort card that corresponds with the entree choice. We found an Etsy seller that makes small stickers in the shape of a chicken, cow, plant to indicate the choice to staff.

The sticker or stamp idea is adorable! If I was doing plated, I'd totally do that.

I did a heart stamp in the corner of mine. Red meant steak, gold meant chicken, and silver meant vegetarian. And I did a little gold star for kids meals

ETA I have better pictures of them but I didn't want to put a pic where you could obviously see first and last names. They turned out pretty cute. But they were a pain in the ass to make. I used embossing powder so they were raised and looked a little better than a regular stamp.

It so much easier for servers to just have to read "beef, chicken, fish or veg". It's very annoying when people try to be cute with all the different colors and symbol for food choices. This is from someone who has seen it all at the venue I work at. Keep it simple.

I'm adding a question in here.. My venue requested we indicate the entree choice on each name card. On my rsvp there's a line to indicate how many of each choice but not specifically who choose them. I'm stumped as to how I'm supposed to figure that out.

I'll have colored dots on my escort cards, yellow for chicken, red for beef, blue for fish and green for vegan.

I have different colored escort cards with their name. Ex) we are doing burgundy and dark grey our wedding. So grey and burgundy cards. Grey will be one food choice and burgundy for the other choice.

@Melanie, that was the death of me. I realized after it was too late and ended up just telling the venue how many people at each table ordered which entree.
