Escort Cards with Plated Dinner?

JennV, on April 13, 2016 at 9:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Are escort cards required for plated dinner? I really like the idea of having a board up with the table number and guest listed under each one, but I feel as though it would be easier for plated dinner to determine which entrée is served to each guest. Has anyone not used escort cards for plated dinner? Any advice? I'm not extremely opposed to escort cards, just like the look of the other option.

It is fine have the big board but it is easier for people to find their name when listed alphabetically vs. searching under each table number for their name. The escort cards are helpful for your servers to give everyone the correct meal. Talk to your venue about how they normally set up for a plated meal.

We wanted to use a big board until our DOC pointed out that it's very hard, if not impossible, to make last-minute changes to the guest list or seating arrangement without redoing the whole thing. Just something to keep in mind as you make your decision!

Escort cards are usually required if you have choices for your plated dinner. It was at ours. We had to put B (beef), C (Chicken) or V (Vegetarian) next to their names on their escort cards.

Kai and twostep127, two things I totally did not consider. Thank you!! I'll probably stray away from that idea...

I like Matt's suggestion of doing both. One of the reasons my venue is doing cards is so that they know who gets what plate (we are sending a list of the guests dinner choices ahead of time). For the sake of making the server's job easier, I would opt to keep them.
