Escort Cards vs Seating Chart

Rachel, on June 22, 2020 at 6:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Hi!

I am doing a served meal with a 2 options. Should I do escort cards with something on them to show what food choice they picked? Or do a seating chart? I thought about doing both but I’m honestly a little lost on what to do, any advice would be appreciated! Smiley smile

I would just do the escort card if that's the case!

you can either have them already placed on the seats/table or just have them all aligned on the guest sign in table for them to find and take and then they choose their own seat

Just do a color coded escort card and let the caterer know which is which so the waitstaff doesn't have to ask.

Also, an escort card is easier for guests to refer to where they are headed in case they get distracted with conversations on the way to locating their table.

Does your venue require you to have assigned seats for the meals? Most weddings I've been to only assign the tables and then a server comes around to ask which person ordered each entree.

Escort cards we bought little stamps with a cow , fish and chicken on that were going to stamp in the corner. Our venue doesn't require us to but said it doesn't hurt. They're going to have a list ahead of time that says table 1 has 2 chicken and 6 beef for example. But every venue is different!

Just assign people to tables and let them pick the seat. Your venue should be fine with that.

Escort cards are so helpful to the waitstaff. That way they can get everyone served more quickly.

Escort cards all the way! Another advantage beyond those mentioned is that they are SO much easier to change than a seating chart if you have last minute cancellations or additions -- if you need to make changes you just re-do a couple of cards!

I love those cards with the little animal icons!! I think they're really cute and really helpful for the catering staff!

I have to figure out where everyone is going to sit, they'll be assigned to a table. I'm going to get some stickers to put on the corner of their escort card that tells the waitstaff what meal each guest is having. I found some on Etsy, I just have to have my final (close to my final count) and then order them. The nice part is that I can tell them how many of each sticker I need.
