Escort cards vs seating chart

MrsMorgan2018, on October 22, 2017 at 11:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hi all! If you were a guest at a wedding, would you rather find your seat via a seating chart or escort cards? I plan on having this set up during cocktail hour but trying to figure out what would be easier for guests. Thank you!

I vote place card. With the charts, people tend to congregate and it can take a while. Also, I'm near sighted and don't like wearing my glasses for formal events. Not a huge issue... unless I'm trying to read something from a distance... say a seating chart.

Both!! I know it's overkill by that's what I did. People have a card to save their seats with and knows who they are sitting with

It wouldn't be a choice between a seating chart and place cards. Place cards are at the table in front of the place setting. You are referring to escort cards.

@Constance N. I have been leaning towards the escort cards. I started making a template for a seating chart and it was a pain.

I had both. Seating chart that directed people to their tables and place cards where to sit at the table

I've never been to a wedding with a chart, just escort cards, so I'll be sticking with what I know, personally

Plus I'm the cheese all that likes to hang on to the cards for a while .

It also helps you identify quickly who, if anyone, is missing !

I had escort cards at mine, but I went to a few weddings that had both. "Knowing who I'm sitting with " unless it was a relative's wedding wouldn't mean much, since I've been to plenty where I've only known the bride and groom. Keep things mysterious.

We only did a seating chart. It was out during cocktail hour. Didn't want one more thing to throw away.

I would do escort cards. You can place them alphabetically but spread them out over more than one table if necessary, so everyone doesn't have to cluster around one seating chart.

It is also easier to make last minute changes as seating charts take time.
