Escort cards & Unknown Guests

Rachael, on April 6, 2017 at 11:04 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

For our reception we are doing escort cards and my question is for those guests who bring a plus one that's (relatively) a stranger, what do we put on the escort card if we do not know their name? I'm just thinking about a young adult cousin that might be bring their best friend, or their new boyfriend, etc, for example. On the RSVP there is no spot for specific names, only how many are attending. Thank you!

Are your RSVP cards already printed? I would really suggest changing them to include a spot for names, it seems like you have the time to do that. Otherwise you should call/text/e-mail the people bringing guests to get the name of the person that they're bringing.

You should reach out to those people bringing plus ones and ask for a name.

An escort or place card is more formal in nature...

I suppose you could put "Guest of other guest name"...but to me that's kind of tacky.

Thanks ladies! Reaching out to them individually was what I was leaning towards, I just wasn't sure if there was a better way around it that I was unaware of. Hopefully there will only be a small handful!

I had one write guest of and her name. She in a new relationship and waited till the end to send it but maybe she is not sure she wants to bring him to first meet family at a wedding so she left it open ended so she will bring a friend otherwise

For one of the weddings where I brought fiance (he was a boyfriend then) the groom just texted me and asked for his first and last name so they could have a table card for him too.
