Escort cards & table numbers

Cathleendanielle, on January 14, 2018 at 10:23 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9
My FH and I decided not to do numbers but something else that was more personal. My wedding planner is giving me a hard time about it. Said no one is going to understand where their table is. I told her there would be pictures on each table. Anyone done this? My brother and SIL did it with cities. It went well as far as I could tell.

I think your planner's reasoning may be that it's easier to find a table with a number on it because usually table 1 is always next to table 2, then 3, then 4, and so on. When a guest walks into a room trying to find their assigned table, they know that if they're standing near table 10, and can see table number 9, they should walk in that direction if they're looking for table number 7.

I stuck with numbers, but it seems to me that a good compromise with your planner will be to display a map of the tables in your reception area next to where your guests will pick up their escort card. If the table nanes are clearly labeled in the map, they at least know which section of the reception hall to look for their table.

It depends on how large your guest list and how many tables you have. It can take a long time to wander the whole room to find your "city".

You can counter that by displaying a map of the table layout at the entrance, next to the escort cards.

You could also overlay a number on top of the picture of the city.

I like the idea of a map on the escort table. We're looking at around 130 guests. Thanks, ladies.

People will have a hard time finding their table no matter what you call it, so might as well call it something you want

This is what I plan to do. I'm an Art teacher and I will be using framed images of famous impressionist paintings with the number overlayed on it.

Honestly, I'd be annoyed if there was just a random photo of a city and I had to wander the room to find mine. Your planner is right.

I think either a map or add numbers to the cards. We are doing national park postcards for the table numbers but instead of doing the park names for the assignments I added numbers to them and will still assign tables by number.
