escort cards- per person or couple?

Alexis, on July 14, 2015 at 2:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 27

I searched a little on here but it was a lot of differing answers and ideas. What is the proper way to do them? Is it one name each alphabetically or by couple? Ex John and Jane Smith Table 1 or split them up. I am doing buffet so meal selection is not an issue. I can't seem to remember how I have seen it at the few weddings I have been to! Thanks!

I've always seen it done per person and then the cards are arranged alphabetically.

Since you are doing buffet style, you can go either way. We are doing per person, but it is really just personal preference.

    Following... good question!

Also - if you are doing by couple, do you do alphabetically by first or last name? Whose name goes first? And what if different last names? I am just worried about organization...

I did them per person. The wedding I went to shortly after my wedding was also per person

Hm. I don't think FH and I have ever had our escort cards written as a couple, but then again we've never been married...I guess the thought of cutting down on total cards is nice. We're also doing buffet style and I hadn't considered doing them as a couple at all.

Seriously....save yourself a bit of money and time by doing them by couple. I've never seen it by person.

Typically escort cards are one per couple. Place cards are usually one per person.

I am doing picture frames as my escort cards that will hold their pictures from the photo booth. I am doing it per couple if they are living together and per person if they are not living together.

I already have a ton of little cards since I found them on ebay really cheap and bought them early on not knowing which way to do them, but yes saving on time and extra work would be nice!

I've seen it both ways. If you have a lot of couples with different last names arranging them is a little more complicated, but everyone will figure it out.

I've always seen them by person, but I don't see a problem with doing it by couple. Our wedding favors are homemade bottles of wine, so we're using them as our escort cards- 1 bottle per couple (they're large size bottles, not little individual ones).

We did by person and arranged alphabetically by last name. We had to separate due to the food choices being different.

I think we have to do then seperatly to signal what the food choices were. if your doing buffet, make it easy and do by couple.

I am doing it by couple since there are guests that I may not know the names of.

@Maltese what if they're not married and don't have the same last name?
