Escort cards or seating chart sign?

Madison, on April 16, 2021 at 1:31 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 9
My fiancé and I are trying to decide if we should get escort cards and place them in alphabetical order or get a seating chart sign made? Our guest count is around 65-70 and we’ll know final numbers next week. Let me know your thoughts!

I’m doing both as some people may misplace theirs (as I did on a quick trip to the bathroom after the ceremony).

I think escort cards are way easier. BUT if you decide on the sign, please please please arrange it by last name in alphebetical order and just put the table number next to the name. It's so irritating when it's arranged by table number and you have to search forever to find your name and hold up the line of people trying to do the same.

I agree with lady about the alphabetical order! We went to a wedding that wasn't in an order and it was a nightmare lol. There was a traffic jam at the sign because people were searching for their name.

I was going to do a seating chart and no escort cards, but I like the idea of having the escort cards hanging up with their table number on them, then the guest takes it down and replaces it with a polaroid picture of them!

Individual cards are easier for both guests and catering waitstaff. Guests will forget their assignments on the way to the table, plus many fonts on the signs are small and difficult to read. Without individual cards there is nothing for catering waitstaff to know who gets which entree if you are having a plated meal. Because individual cards can be color coordinated. A solid red card for beef, solid pink for chicken or solid green for veggie, or whatever your color scheme is.

    Yup. This. 100%

I was a guest at a wedding that had the seating chart sign arranged by table. There were over 300 guests, and it was an absolute nightmare. I think it took close to an hour for everyone to figure out where they were supposed to sit.

Also escort cards can be pretty easily changed last minute compared to a seating chart that has to be reprinted in its entirety (eg if people cancel and you need to shuffle tables so one is half empty etc.) There was a girl on here last year who had hers printed like 3 different times!

I always prefer a seating chart. It’s easier and less back up at the entrance.

We’re doing escort cards because we’re doing a plated meal and want to be able to put markings on them (entree choice, dietary restriction, etc) for the wait staff. Otherwise, we’d probably just do a seating chart (by last name, not table number!!)

I think this is a preference because I personally preferred seating chart since I had a lot of people but since you don’t have as many people then escort cards might be fine and like what other people have said here you can use it to specify entrées
