Escort cards - couples vs each person?

FutureMrsN14, on April 27, 2018 at 11:59 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 16
I know I have some time but I have been thinking about escort cards. Does each person get their own escort card, or does each couple get one? I understand that singles would get their own. I am not sure which way is preferred or proper etiquette. I just want to know how much cardstock to get as each person would double the amount. Any advice?

I would put couples on one card.

It depends on whether or not you need to collect entree choices in advance. If you do, and need your escort cards to indicate their meal choice to the servers, then you need to do one per person. If you're having guests choose their entrees at the tables, or if it's a buffet, then you can do one card per couple and save a few bucks. We did one per couple because guests chose at the tables, not in advance.

I will need individual cards because I have to indicate the meal selection for each person on the card. If you don’t have to do that than either way should work.

As the pp's have stated, if you need to indicate choice of entree, they need separate cards.

Separate cards also work to save seats if assigning tables but not seats.

We are doing individual cards. If you are having a caterer that needs meal choices you’ll need individual or to mark both foods on one card. I’ve seen that done before for a little less formal choice.

This is the reason I'm thinking about doing escorts at all over just figuring out a display for listing it. It'll let people claim their seat so it doesn't get taken by someone else if they get up to get a drink lol

In my case each individual needs their own escort card because I am indicating meal choices on the cards. If you aren't doing that with your escort cards, I think you could do one card per family!

I put couples on each escort card. Our favors are going to be 7oz bottles of tequila, which is a pretty decent size for 2 people to share.

It also depends on if you're having both escort cards and place cards. I had ornaments personalized with the couples' names or individual's names depending on if they were single or married. Table assignment tags went around each ornament and these served as the escort card. Then I had place cards at each place setting that indicated each guest's meal selection.

I'm doing individual cards because of different meal selections.

Thank you everyone! I forgot to mention we are having a buffet so venue does not need individual! Nice to know either should work!

We did individual to indicate meal choice, attach favors (small ornaments for a December wedding), and let people claim their seats.

I am doing it 1 card per couple /family. It lessons the amount we need, and thr amount if time to set them up abd space they take up on tables!
I spoke to the catering/DOC and they said I could put multiple meal choice stickers on the back of 1 card, no problem .
I'm also going to give them an excel sheet of how many/who is at each table and what their meal choice is, just to have everything doubly covered!(And not hard to do since I'm adding info/seating chart as people come in!)

I like one per person. There are too many configurations and this way there's no confusion. The cost savings of doing couples is pennies. Also, my escort card wasn't paper, it was a lollipop so I wanted each person to get their own.

Talk to your venue or caterer. We had to indicate our guests' meal choices, however, they were fine with us putting two on one. Our way to identify was to get a small shamrock stamp (we got married on St. Patrick's Day) and we just stamped different colors for different meal selections. If it was a couple, we just put two stamps on the escort card. I would say check to see if they're cool with that before you make the additional ones. Escort cards were my least favorite part of the wedding planning so anything to cut back on the number we needed was what I wanted to do.
