Escort cards and meals

Dani, on May 4, 2021 at 6:55 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 9
So I am using escort cards to direct guests to their seats and the venue suggested I use the escort cards to differentiate the meals guests got. Does anyone have ideas of how to do that or can anyone share examples of what they did?? TY

Some people will buy little stickers that are either color coded or in the shape of a cow, chicken, or fish or whatever. Others will color code the escort cards themselves (which is probably the easiest for wait staff to see from a distance).

Ours have pictures that indicate the meal. Cow = Filet, Fish = Salmon, Star = Kids Meal, etc.

The easiest way is to have a different color card stock for each selection. A solid red card for beef, solid pink card for chicken and solid green card for vegan as an example. Etsy has many US shops that sell solid colors of tented place cards that you write the names/assignments on.

Let the catering staff know what your color code system is. Wait staff cannot tell until they are at the table what the stickers look like but they can see solid colored cards from a distance.

We used letter symbols on the back of the cards: C = chicken, F = fish, V = vegetarian.

We used thin strips of foil tape, coded for meals. Across the top edge of the card, visible to a server 10 ft away across the table.
But okay in a formal setting .

This is cute! I love the idea of the little stickers at the bottom of the chicken or beef but know those could be hard to see for the waiters and I can’t bring myself to ruin the idea of my wedding decor in my head by buying brightly colored card stock yet 😂. This might be a cute alternative when the time comes!!

We're doing fish, chicken, and vegetarian stickers (gluten free and dairy free as well). Every plated dinner wedding I've been to, the wait staff walks around and writes down each person's meal choice from the sticker. I'm not sure why they would need to know from afar. I agree with your previous comment - I'm not having orange place cards at my wedding that's mainly purple and white! https://www.etsy.com/listing/667275323/50-wedding-meal-stickers-meal-choice?ref=cart

I've mostly seen color coded little stickers in the corner of the card that indicate what meal they get.
