Entertainment During Dinner?

Chantelle, on July 22, 2020 at 2:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
It is normal to have some sort of entertainment/games/something at the table to keep guests slightly engaged during dinner? I imagine a full hour of just sitting around eating might bore guests and myself lol. I was thinking of doing Best Man and MOH toasts toward the tail end of dinner. What things could be done to keep guests at least a little engaged at their table during dinner? What fun/interesting things have you seen or suggest?

I have not seen games, in most receptions I've gone to, we've communicated with the other guests at our table. Getting to know new people and hearing their stories.

I have been to plenty of guests and this has never been a problem. Normally you have soft music playing in the background and your guests chat with those they are seated with. I don't think you need to provide any sort of additional entertainment as that would just make dinner take longer.

You could leave little interactive things at the table, such as little baskets with pens & notecards & request things like date ideas, advice, words of wisdom or just well wishes for the newly weds.

Normally, you sit people with people they know, so they just talk during dinner. We're spacing out our speeches throughout dinner to help break up the speeches, but we won't have any real entertainment.

I enjoy eating and socializing with the other guests at my table. I'm not really interested in entertainment during dinner. I feel this is what most guests expect to do during dinner.

Guests are more than happy to socialize during dinner. Toasts are given at that time. There may or may not be background music.

Our DJ just played some soft music, people talked and took pictures, and generally hung out. We also had a great view, so lots of people kept popping up to watch the sunset.

I’ve never seen any form of entertainment during dinner at a wedding beyond speeches. It’s a great time for guests to relax and socialize! I wouldn’t really want to do anything else besides hang out with other guests and simply enjoy my food.

People will be fine with mingling. We plan to have music going.

We also plan to walk around once we are done eating and people wont sit for the full hour.

I am thinking now we will also do the cake cutting while people are eating so that they can all see and if people want to leave before the dancing/drinking they don't have to wait for cake
