Engraving Removal

Amy, on July 6, 2016 at 2:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hey All.

I had already bought my EF's wedding band when the wedding was called off. Its a titanium size 11 band that is engraved inside. I would like to attempt to resell it (and get anything out of it), but I know it wont sell with an engraving inside (the NFILY stands for Never Forget I Love You... it was something we did... Smiley sad )

Any suggestions for me? Is removing it even possible?

Take it to a jeweler. They may have something that will work.. I have heard of jewelers being able to polish it off or fill it in depending on the type of metal.

Also the engraving is generic enough.. you may be able to resell if you explain what it stands for. It may become someone else's thing.

I'm really sorry about your wedding being called off. Crossing my fingers that you can sell the ring.

So sorry, personally I think the saying is cute. But I understand if it's for sentimental reasons why you want it gone. Where did you purchase the ring? Sometimes (if they can remove the engraving) they will let you take it back and exchange for something of equal value.

If I saw that inside a ring, I would think it was the name of the manufacturer or a style code #.

Don't explain it, just sell it as is.

At least it is not "Joe, I love you -- Amy"

I'm not sure buy a legitimate jewler...not a chain...may be your best bet.

They may be able to fill it. Try selling it as it is. The saying is generic enough that someone might like it the way it is. Plus it'll save them the money to engrave it themselves.

I agree that you could probably still sell it the way it is. Sure, it's engraved, but it doesn't scream personalized. Whoever buys it probably wouldn't think twice about what it means since it's not someone's name or anything like that. I hope you find a buyer and continue to heal after your breakup. I know that can't be easy Smiley sad
