English/Polish Wedding

Stacy, on June 14, 2011 at 10:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hi everyone,

We are having an English/Polish ceremony and I need to find a Polish reading for the ceremony. I am having no luck online. Does anyone know any place where I can find a Polish poem or something so my future mother-in-law can read it at the wedding?

Thank you so much!

I assume that means you are of English descent and your FH is of Polish descent? If so, I would ask some of the older relatives in his family if they know of any.

Here's a neat page about Polish wedding traditions, if you wanted to incorporate more than a reading, or perhaps there is info on a reading in there.

I'm Polish too, We never thought of that! Here is a link that I did find. It's English translated into Polish. I am assuming you wanted it in Polish. Smiley smile

Here is another one I found too. The English version is under each verse. Hope this helps!

W dniu tak wielkiej decyzji podjęcia,

In the day of such a big decision made,

Waszego ślubu dla serca i szczęścia,

Your marriage for heart and happiness,

    chcemy złożyć Wam życzenia,

    We want to wish you,

    niezmiennego powodzenia,

    Constant luck,

    jak ogień gorącej miłości,

    Heating love like fire,

    co dotrwa do późnej starości,

Which will last until late antiquity,

    wyjścia z każdej sytuacji

A way out of every situation,

    i pozytywnych wibracji!

    And positive vibrations!

    In Polish, it rhymes.

We had a similar question since my FH is Croatian and we wanted his sister to do a reading in Croatian during the ceremony. We contacted our local Croatian/American group for suggestions and they were very gracious. You might also just ask his mom if she has a favorite poem from her childhood. You could also, which is what we are ultimately doing, have her read a Bible verse that you love in Polish then print the English translation in the program so everyone can follow along.
