English-only ketubah?

Jessie, on June 6, 2017 at 8:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

Has anyone had an English-only ketubah? We are having ours made by our local artist and I'm worried that having both the Hebrew and English will look cramped and make the English hard to read. Neither of us can read Hebrew (FH isn't even Jewish). I was thinking of doing only English but I feel kind of weird about it. I know that technically it doesn't matter or decrease the validity of the ketubah, but I'm worried it would seem somehow less official without Hebrew.

What is everyone else doing? Have you ever seen an English-only ketubah hanging in someone's house? Did it seem weird?

Does that local artist have examples of either/both they can show you to help you make up your mind? Or do you have an inspiration photo that you're basing your decision off of? Maybe you could talk to someone from your synagogue for advice, or your wedding officiant.

Ours has both and doesn't look cramped at all. But it's also very basic and we will just get a nice frame. I think that helps to make it less busy. I don't think just English makes it any less legit!
