Dedicated June 2021

Engagement shoot

I’m torn! My wedding is 6.25.21 so for my engagement shoot for my STD’s I wanted a summer look(flowers bloomed, full trees, green grass etc) I didn’t want a fall shoot(less leaves on trees, colder, colors changed on trees etc). For me it just screams fall wedding. My shoot is currently for 10/5, but I’m really thinking of cancelling until May when it’s warmer again. Is that too late? I feel like all the important people know the date of my wedding, and FH also wanted to wait until late spring/ early summer too . Photos take at least 3 weeks to get back I feel like it’d still be sent no later than end of June and have enough time? What do you think?

Save the dates shouldn't go out until 6-8 months before the wedding, 10-12 months before the wedding for a destination wedding, so that's plenty of time.

I think if you do a shoot in May, 2020 you'd have pictures latest by the end of June, mid-July if you requested a second round of edits. That gives you at least 3 months to design them (by mid-October), a month to receive them (by mid-November), and then they'd be received by your guests by mid-December, giving them still 6 months heads up. I think you have plenty of time to make sure you get what you want - don't spend money on pictures that you don't want!

If you want pictures with flowers blooming and whatnot, definitely wait until spring or early summer. You don’t need to have engagement photos done as soon as you get engaged, so may as well wait so you can get the look you want. Your wedding is still a year and a half away, so there’s plenty of time.
