Engagement shoot fashion

Samantha, on December 4, 2019 at 9:32 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
What should we wear to our engagement shoot? We're having it at the bookstore where we met so it'll be indoors. Not sure how to dress for it, any advice?

We did one casual and one "formal" outfit. So we both wore jeans and a nice shirt for the casual ones and for the formal outfit I wore a knee length dress and FH wore a long sleeve button down with a tie and khakis.

The simple answer is: anything that makes you feel beautiful! I find it helps to go with a theme of sorts. Sometimes even just picking a color complimentary to the location. Don't overthink it, whatever you do. It's not the wedding day, just have fun with it!

If you're still not sure, go to the mall and ask some nice sales associates to help you find something appropriate.

Like PP had done - maybe some more formal and some casual, jeans and a cute top!

We wore what we were wearing on our first date. A dress for me and jeans and a button down for him.

    What makes you feel most....you?!

We had two looks for our engagement pics:

    1. what we might wear on a date - nice jeans, I had wedges and a cute jacket and he had his favorite V neck shirt

    2. more "formal" - a cute white dress for me and he had khakis and a button up shirt

Think about how you might be posed in the pictures - sitting in a comfy arm chair, leaned up against a book shelf, what would you be most comfortable in? This could also be a great opportunity to bring y'alls favorite book or cute pair of glasses you keep on the night stand!

How about jeans and a cute top? I think that would look great with the bookstore

It's cute that you are having your shoot at the place you met. That's so romantic. Like others have said wear what makes you feel beautiful and if you want the two of you could make your outfits coordinate. I hope you share your photos on wedding wire, I know they are going to be nice.

Definitely check with your photographer for recommendations. My photographer suggested no plaid (unless you are doing a rustic theme) and no bright/neon colors. Our shoot will be outdoors, so your photographer might have a different opinion on colors for an indoor location.

We are having ours in March. Our photographer recommended 2-3 outfits. He said one could be casual (like jeans, sweaters, & flannels, for our aesthetic, but could be anything simple and casual), another could be more semi-formal (I'm personally thinking a cute casual dress with boots & maybe a cardigan/denim jacket, & the FH will probably wear khakis and a button down). Photographer also said we could go with a 3rd formal outfit, but that's not really our style, personally, so we will probably stick to those two. But go formal if that's your thing. I agree with what's already been said... Whatever makes you feel beautiful! Smiley smile
