Engagement rings that have been passed down

Lacy, on October 31, 2019 at 9:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 14

My FH and I did things a little unconventional. We picked our wedding date prior to becoming officially "engaged". That seems silly to say because an engagement should be defined by the intent to get married and not by the gifting of a ring, but at any rate, that's what we did.

He is using his grandmother's ring and having the diamond(s) reset for my ring. I am so excited to have something that has so much sentimental value for him and his family. He is meeting with the jeweler he is using today to go over final designs!

Can I see pictures of engagement rings that have been passed down from family members, reset or otherwise?

Congrats! My ring is a reset of my great-grandmothers. My fiancé used the diamond from her ring as the center stone for mine.

This is my grandmothers ring from around 1930. I wore this after we got engaged, but recently found a very good deal on a brand new diamond engagement and wedding band set and jumped on it because I wanted something new and just mine. I also bought a nice antique orange blossom wedding band to go with my grandmothers ring, too so I can wear either. Im going to have both sets of rings at the ceremony so they will all be special.

Mine is a diamond that was reset. My FHs mom and dad were engaged, but unfortunately they never got married because his dad got really sick and passed away. His mom gave him the engagement ring. He let me see it before hand and I had to nicely tell him that it just wasn't my style. So he had the diamond reset into a plain band with a halo. I love it so much and haven't seen many like it

The center diamond is an heirloom diamond in my family. It belonged to my great great grandmother. My husband had it put in a new setting before he proposed.Engagement rings that have been passed down 4

This ring was my fh grandmothers ring. The only thing that was changed was the size.

That is so unique and beautiful. I asked my FH if he was sure the ring needed to be reset because I tend to enjoy the vintage look, and he said he was certain it needed to be reset. I recently saw the original ring for the first time, and he was right.

My FH has two sons (5 and 12) that do not live with him. It was important that we not only be able to include them in our ceremony but also have them with us the week prior for all the fun stuff that happens prior to the wedding when both of our families will be together. We likely would have chosen a summer wedding because it would be easiest with the boys' summer breaks, but my FH, who is currently still living in Lexington, KY, will be moving here to Chattanooga, TN, during the summer. We felt like the move and a wedding would be a lot, so we decided to do it on the Saturday that falls after the boys' fall breaks. It just so happened to be that Saturday, 10.10.20, would be one of the most popular wedding dates of the year, so we decided to start planning as soon as we picked it out.

That's great Lacy! I'm so happy that you could choose a date that would include the boys!

Have you made any exciting wedding planned decisions yet, other than your date?
