Engagement ring went missing...

Dalymar, on September 16, 2019 at 11:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Okay, I’m staying at hotel for a week. For my moms birthday. I clearly remember that I left my ring on the dresser two days ago in 2am and I never wore it yesterday because we all went to swimming. So today I decided to go and get it and put in my bag before I lose it. Well, when I went to dresser to get it. And it’s not there anymore. We checked every room. Corner to corner. And we haven’t gotten any house keeping coming in for last 4 days. So I’m starting to freaking out because this is my 5th time losing it. I’m starting to think i might not suited to be his future wife. Like marriage might be bad omen for me. I’m not sure what I’m believing in anymore.

So I need help and advice. I’m literally stressing out right now. I do not want tell him because I know he will yell at me and might want to call off the wedding cause last time I lost it he said it’s the last straw. So I really don’t know what to do.

It’s a honest mistake. It’s not like you intentionally yeeted it into the ocean.

Before you tell him anything check all of you luggage and see if you can move the dresser to see if it fell behind it.

Being able to keep a small piece of jewelry does not dictate your worth as a person or your reliability and compatibility as a life partner. I know it’s stressful to lose something so meaningful but it doesn’t speak to you.

Oh no! Well, take a deep breath! It's gotta be there. Usually when I drop a piece of jewelry, I get down eye level with the floor and shine a flashlight (your phone's flashlight should work) along the floor and make sweeps to see if the reflection of light off the gem catches my eye. Maybe enlist some help but try not to stir up the area too much or it might get kicked behind something. 🤞 you'll find it!
It's not a bad omen, these things happen.

He yells at you for losing a ring? You seriously think he might call off a wedding for losing a ring? If your fiance is usually like this, you have bigger problems than a lost ring. The problem may be your fiance, his anger issues, and his priorities.

If you lost it at the hotel and it was supposed to be in your room, sounds like it may have been stolen. Just because you didn’t have any housekeeping done doesn’t mean they didn’t enter your room. I would file a report with the hotel management and a police report if it doesn’t turn up. Unfortunately there’s probably not a lot they can do. I would also double check through all your belongings and everyone else’s that you’re traveling with to make sure it hasn’t gotten picked up unintentionally. Hopefully it returns.

That was kind of my thought too. I've been at a hotel and we had the do not disturb sign up and housekeeping came in anyway, without even knocking first! We definitely called management on that one.
If you've already done a thorough sweep of the room, get management involved.

If he told you losing the ring was the last straw and you are considering calling off the wedding, I think that is the lead on this story, not a misplaced ring. That is just not a healthy place to be and if doubts or anger are that close to the surface then it may be time to take stock and reevaluate. I sometimes wish I had listened to myself the first time and never got married to that person. I truly believe in trusting your gut, not doubts that sometimes creep in due to stress, but real gut checks. Only you know what feels right for you though.

    Thank you guys for help.
Apparently last night I got a serious talk with him, he had my ring entire time and it was attached to keychain. AND he left to work yesterday so he never told me he had it. and I’ve been stressed out all day. So I told him it was not nice of him to do that and so on.

He apologized and my ring was not lost or misplaced. It was with him entire time!!! Ugh men lol

I would suggest getting a silicone ring for long trips like that just incase it happens again and your FH doesn't have it next time

I agree (I usually agree with you IvyAndKris! Smiley smile ) but seriously, check for the ring, report it to hotel, and whether you find the ring or not I would have a really important conversation with your FH and let them know that accidents happen and may continue to happen. Let him know that you are feeling this anxiety and that you are doing it on purpose. If he refuses to be understanding I think it might be time to take a step back and re-evaluate your relationship. This is a material object and involved nothing malicious--I would be concerned to stay with a person who wouldn't marry me because of an accident!

Are there any chances your fiancé has your ring to “teach you a lesson”? Not to be super suspicious but my father did that to me when I was a kid and obviously I never quite got over it.
