engagement ring talk

Do any of you ladies take your ring off when you take a shower? I am very careful because I've already had my diamond fall out. No mean to brag but I have a 1.25 carat center stone and my heart DROPPED when I saw it gone. Luckily, I found it in my car but ever since that day, I've started to take my ring off when I go to take a shower. Yesterday was terrible, I took it off and was in a rush and had to be somewhere and totally rushed out the door without my ring. I realized it a couple lights down but it was too late to turn back to get it. FH came home and saw it in the bathroom. Granted I knew he wouldn't think anything of it because I always leave it there while I get ready because of the diamond mishap, but still, that is not something your FH should see when you aren't home and he is. I am just scared it is going to fall out in the shower.

I never wear my ring when I shower. I always take it off. I had to purchase a ring holder to place on my dresser so it reminds me to put it back on when done getting ready. But this goes for lotion, showering, washing dishes, working out, etc..

No, no and no! My stone has a 6 point setting instead of a 4 and it's very secure. I only take it off to put on lotion then it's right back on again. And after seeing a thread about once a month of "I CAN'T FIND MY E-RING!", yeah I'm keeping it on! =)

I also take my ring off when doing anything that involves water or work outs. My FH does get a little upset sometimes because I tend to forget it and walk out the door without it on but he understands why I take it off. I have been doing much better at remembering it though.

I've never lost it because I am so on top of putting it in the same exact spot every time. Well, except the time when FH thought it would be funny to take it and hide it. I was getting ready and didn't notice till about an hr later. It was cute though because he put it back on the way he did the first time. Smiley laugh

I had the same thing happen. My center stone fell out but it was on the train and I didnt realize it until I was already at my car. Luckily its insured so Jared's replaced it with no problem. I think mine became lose as a result of the UV lights at the nail salon...I was getting gel polish. I do not shower or sleep in my ring. But I completely understand after losing the stone once I check my ring every time I hit my hand on something.

Ikea P. Same here. I told RB that I should not have to CONSTANTLY be worried about my ring. They had nothing to fix it besides reset the stone. I haven't even had it for a year and it has already fallen out. It seriously worries me.

I always take it off when I shower because the thought of it getting all sudsy and slipping off down into the drain scares me!!! That's about the only time i take it off, other than when applying lotions and when it's off, it's in the little bell holder box it came in!

Ikea- I get regular Shellac manicures and take it off for those too. I thought the UV light must do something so i didn't want to take a chance.

So far, I only take it off in the shower and then I put it on the holder in the shower. I also take it off when I am doing activities involving water - like being out on the boat, swimming in the lake or when we kayak. I will most likely be leaving it at home when we take our annual camping trip in June but will wear it when we do our river float in July as we have a secure house to leave it but will not wear it on the river.

I am debating about wearing it when I go overseas for work - as well - to London or KL.

I have already decided to find us a "replaceable" not expensive matching set of simple wedding bands that we can wear for times when we are not comfortable wearing our e and wedding ring with the diamonds and sapphires.

Lesson is accidents do happen so insurance is good piece of mind in case it does get lost.

Yes this happen to me about 3 months after the proposal! To me the stone is more secure than before but that doesnt stop my worrying.

I always take mine off to shower, do housework, things like that.

We live at the beach, so I take it off then too.

For me, its not really about not wanting to lose the center stone as much as my ring just tends to get in the way sometimes. My center stone is insured, so if it falls out the store replaces it for free, and then we carry a separate insurance on the entire ring.

I've actually stopped wearing my ring to the grocery store after some random woman and her husband stopped me and were asking about my ring, and then loudly started to speculate how much it cost.

Needless to say it was super uncomfortable.

I only take mine off when I am at home for showering, sleeping, vigorous cleaning and yard work. I can't stand when the stone gets snagged on the sheets or pillow at night. It also freaks DH out when I don't have it on, like it is just going to fall off somewhere.

Like Leena said, I only put it on the ring holder on my vanity so I always know where it is.

If my hands are getting wet the rings come off..soap can actually lossen the prongs no matter how many you have. If I lose my center stone of my engagement ring its something that can NEVER be replaced. since its about 70 years old or so it was my grandmothers diamond from her engagement ring

I never take mine off - EVER. I work on the cars - it stays on, I shower - it stays on. Yes it has sentimental value because it is the exact one he gave me, but it is insured and it can be replaced.

I don't wear mine in the shower, while washing dishes, or if we go to a water park. I have a cup on my bathroom counter to put it in so it can't accidentally get knocked into the trash or sink or anything. FH got me my dream ring and I'm terrified of losing it because of something I could prevent.
