Engagement ring spinning is driving me crazy

Gen, on October 5, 2018 at 11:26 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

My engagement ring was too big and always spinning so I got it sized down slightly a couple months ago, and it's still too big.

I'm seriously so confused about this though, because my engagement ring is an odd size right now, between a 5.25 and a 5.5, and it is still WAY too big... it not only spins, it just completely feels like it's going to fly off and makes me nervous! So today I decided to wear another ring that I have on my ring finger as an experiment, and THIS ring is a 5. It fits very comfortably when it's on, but was very difficult to get on and off.

I have no idea what to do, because it seems like a 5.25 is still going to be way too big but the 5 feels tight. My ring is very top-heavy too which I now regret, because I think that's what's making it spin so much in addition to being too big.

I have really thin fingers but big knuckles which I think may be contributing to the issue. Ugh. Anyone have similar issues/what do you recommend?

My ring also has a little bit of "spin" to it, even after having it sized down. My problem is that I don't want to size it down further because during the summer heat, it fits really well. So I ordered some of these on amazon, and during the winter months (and now, during fall) I put a little strip around my band and it holds it into place fairly well.

You could get a spiral ring sizer like this one.

I literally just put a new one on my ring this morning. It helps the ring fit just a tiny bit more snug so I'm not scared it will fall off when I wash my hands plus does help the ring from moving around too much.

They're super inexpensive and very comfortable. You don't' even know they're on.

Hi Gen! I am sorry you are having some difficulties with your engagement ring! A really quick fix for sizing down rings is by buying a plastic ring sizer/adjuster! They sell them on Amazon and other online stores, and they are really affordable! My sister's fingers fluctuate sizes regularly depending on the weather and time of year, and she swears by these! They are easy to put on the ring, and simple to remove! I highly recommend looking into them!

Also, if you are planning on getting them soldered, my jeweler mentioned it fits a little snugger after doing that too.

So I have an similar issue. I have super small hands my ring is a 4 which sometimes seems like it’s still too loose - in the shower and stuff. But my ring is sort of top heavy too in the sense that it’s a very high setting. It affects me at work anyway cause I have to wear gloves constantly so we are taking it to the jeweler to bring the setting down. I’m hoping that helps. Maybe you can bring your setting down if that’s the problem?

I feel your pain sister! My ring definitely flops to the side especially now that the weather is getting a little cooler. I also think i have lost a few lbs which only makes matters worse. My thought it what it is as i dont want to get it sized down bc i know through the yrs i will only get bigger lol (pregnancies and what not) now i am wondering if my wedding band should be a hair smaller? I also heard that the wedding band helps lessen the spinning

I also have thin fingers and big knuckles. My ring was already resized and I'm having the same issue as you. I plan on having my two rings soldered together and then having the jeweler solder two beads onto the inside. Multiple people have told me this is a great option if I didn't want to get my ring resized again. My ring spins and I ordered these clear ring sizers on amazon. You have 2 size options and I only needed a very small strip of the coil.

Does the size 5 you’re wearing have a thicker band? I used to work at a Pandora jewelry store ages ago, and I learned that the thicker the band of the ring, the tighter it will be, because there is more surface area for it to fit around, if that makes sense. I would head to a jewelry store and have them size your ring finger! Rings can be sized down smaller... mine is a size 4.5.
