Engagement ring problems!!

Jessica, on January 19, 2016 at 12:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

My fiancee wants to return my ring...if that is even possible. He said the jeweler he got it from has given him loads of issues, and messed up his first payment, causing him to pay double next month. There is also a little black satuer mark on the side of it, but I think with a cleaning it will go away. I am extremely attached to it, sentimental value trumps all to me. Is it wrong for me to ask him not to? Has anyone else ran into issues with their rings?

Most jewelers will only allow you to exchange an item for something double the price.

I would contract them about the payment issues and have them fix the mark.

I wouldn't return it, talk to him about it. Call the jeweler, ask if the issues can be worked out and if they can clean your ring. I agree with MissEtoMrsB, I'm surprised the jeweler gave him the ring without it being paid for in full.

Yes, I have Kay Jewelers is the worse! I got engaged Dec 2014 (a week before xmas) brought my ring to get fitted the next day. After getting it back 4 weeks later one of my diamonds fell out. They gave me a ring off the shelf and I had to go through the same process again. After 6 months of having my new ring the same thing happened as with the first. I had to send that one to the corporate office which took 3 months to get back. I thought if it happens again I might have to get a whole other ring. It'll break my heart if so!

Have the ring cleaned and inspected at a jewelers (doesn't have to be the one you bought it at) and if the ring is ok, then I wouldn't return it. Sounds like FH is being whiny about the sales process that is over and done with. As long as they aren't somehow charging more than he originally agreed to, he just needs to make the payment and you can keep the ring he proposed with.
