Engagement Ring Making Noise

Jillian, on April 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

My engagement ring is making a rattling sound so I'm thinking one of the diamonds is loose. I plan on bringing it to the jeweler but my worry is what to wear in the mean time if I have to leave it there. I already have my wedding band and would prefer to just wear that. Is this a big deal? I feel like it's not bad luck because I won't be wearing them together but what do you guys think? I

I think it is fine to just wear your band if you want something on your finger. If you feel weird about it get a cheap ring from kohls etc. and wear that, or get one of those silicone bands you can wear for the gym etc.

You could wear the wedding band, you could wear a different ring you already have, you could just not wear anything. Whether you wear a ring and what ring it is has NOTHING to do with luck.

I'd just wear nothing but take the ring in before you lose a stone! Actually happened to my friend the day before her wedding (luckily found it but no time to repair for wedding).

Thanks! I hate not having something on that finger, I feel naked! I have another tiny purple ring my FH got me in college but I'd rather wear my wedding band. I don't think he's going to love the idea because he'll think it's bad luck!

I'm sorry it's a question because I asked it. Some people say it's bad luck to wear a wedding band before the wedding (take a look at all the forums about people debating on soldering their rings together before the wedding) .

Yes my ring is insured! I'm sure it will be no problem to get fixed.

Old enough not to write nasty comments to people who are just trying to ask a question. I guess it was not clear that my main concern was if it was bad luck/taboo/ or whatever to wear my wedding band in the mean time. Thanks so much though for your very helpful advice.

You are engaged regardless of the ring you wear or if you even wear one, so get that special one repaired ASAP!

Yeah I'm with @Jo on this one. "Luck" has nothing to do with the logistics of life.

Step on a crack, break your mother's back.

    Anyone remember that one?

    Silly ass superstitions.

@Jillian - my ring had to go back to the jeweler because he wanted to do something else with it. I just continued on about my business. My hand didn't fall off. FH and I didn't break up. I didn't get endless bouts of diarrhea. I'm sorry but this sounds silly as hell.

As far as wearing your wedding band, I prefer to wear it AFTER the officiant declares us married. It's more of symbolism to me, not some dumb ass superstition, or thinking I'm going to have 7 years of bad luck in my marriage.

If you want to wear your wedding band now, go for it. If you don't, then don't. I'm with Jo - I just don't understand what the problem is. This is all in your head girl.

I understand this does not negate my engagement I just prefer to have a ring on this finger because we've been engaged for awhile now so it's weird to not have it on. I simply wanted peoples' opinions on if this was taboo bad luck whatever. I'm seeing it's 50/50. I'm sorry I bothered everyone with my very childish question. I will try and make my future posts more clear.

So wear go get a ring that makes you happy- I wore a 6$ charming charlie ring that said I heart you on it when we had to send my engagement ring back.

this is in no way worthy of asking a bunch of strangers what to do.

I don't believe in wearing your wedding and before the wedding. Your engaged with or without an engagement ring. Don't stress over it too much get your engagement ring fixed and don't wear anything(unless u feel really naked without it just buy something cheap to keep on while your ring is being fixed

I would not wear my wedding band. That is for the ceremony. But I do understand how it feels like something is missing. I go to sleep without mine and sometimes wake up to get a drink of water or to pee and I feel the weight not there and when I'm half asleep sometimes it shocks me awake. But I'm also a space cadet and lose stuff all the time and have been reminding myself daily to put it back on when I take it off to do dishes or something so I don't lose it. So I get where you're coming from. I'd just wear the purple ring or nothing at all and just deal. I don't think any ring will be as special as your e ring right now and temporarily replacing it doesn't seem like it would fill the same void. I'd go without it so when you get it back you'll fall in love with it all over again, have a renewed appreciation for it and be extra happy to have it back where it belongs Smiley smile

It is only taboo or bad luck if you believe it is. I, personally, don't think it matters. In my mind, as long as you and your FH know you are engaged that is all that matters- ring or not. Some people don't even get any engagement in the first place. As far as wearing your wedding band, again, that is completely up to you. You need to consider if wearing it now will, in any way, make it feel less special to you the day of your wedding though. If you think it might, and you still want a ring, I would get a cheap one at Kohl's or JC Penny's to wear temporarily.

That should be just fine. I did that whenever I got my ring cleaned until I ordered some silicone rings
