Engagement ring insured?

Mmssecrets, on August 9, 2018 at 12:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
My FH got my engagement ring at JB Robinson in my area. Well they closed a few months ago and was taken over by Kay jewelers. Kay jewelers are taking JBR customers and any cards or credit that comes with those customers. My question is, if anything happens to my ring (i.e. lost, diamond falls out, etc.), is it still insured by Kay since they took it over? Should I go ask to make sure?

Are you sure your ring was insured to begin with? You may have had a warranty, but from my understanding most jewelry stores don't provide "insurance"... I think you'd have to go through your homeowners/renters insurance company to do that!

I agree with PP. But even if it is just the warranty i would call and make sure!

Kay Jewelers generally does not insure rings as far as I know. I would call Kay headquarters and ask. If you have a warranty and it carried over to Kay, it will replace stones if it falls off and stuff like that but it does not cover lost or stolen rings.

Call your insurance company they will insure it under your homeowners policy, or create you a policy for it. I pay $90 a year to insure my ring

I would go ask & make sure, and read through your insurance policy!

You have to go ask. They should honor it but they don’t have too and Kay’s usually requires certain inspections at certain times to maintain their warranty
